being maintained. Entity Designer Errors Visual Studio 2010 This topic lists common errors that the ADO.NET Entity Data Model Designer reports when validating an .edmx file and suggests ways to resolve the errors. Note When you add an empty .edmx file to your project and then begin adding entities and associations, some of the errors below may be reported as warnings. When you add storage model and mapping information to the .edmx file, the warnings will be reported as errors if problems still exist. For more information, see How to: Create a New .edmx File (Entity Data Model Tools) and How to: Generate a Database from a Conceptual Model (Entity Data Model Tools). Error 11007: Entity Type Is Not Mapped This error occurs when an entity type in the conceptual model is not mapped to the data source. To resolve this error, map the entity type to the data source. For more information, see How to: Map Entities to Database Tables (E

I created the entities and associations in the Model Viewer and then ask it to generate the database from the model. Immediately I get a selection of validation errors and a pop-up informs http://stackoverflow.com/questions/8670748/entity-framework-cannot-generate-database-from-my-edmx-because-new-entities-ar me that I must clear all validation errors before I can generate the database. The errors in question are all along the lines of: Error 11007: Entity type 'EntityName' is not mapped. Or Error 11008: Association 'AssociationName' is not mapped. I get this error once for each new Entity and Association I have created. Now I get that they are not mapped to the database yet, this seems quite logical as they are totally new to the model. That is why I'm trying to use the "Generate Database From Model" tools to generate the database. Am I understanding correctly that I cannot generate a new database from the model because the new Entities and Associations I have added to the Model are not already in the database? If so, how do I work around this? visual-studio-2010 entity-framework poco share|improve this question asked Dec 29 '11 at 16:53 glenatron 7,45374686 2 If all that's wrong is unmapped associations and entities, "generate database from model" should work, and I've used it that way myself. Are you sure all your errors are about yet-unmapped entities, or might there be one real error hidden in a list of dozens of ignorable errors? –hv
parses records out of encrypted data files, on demand. There is no real data source for this project, http://thecurlybrace.blogspot.com/2012/02/suppress-ef-compiler-warnings-error.html for Entity Framework 4.1 to reference. Every time I build the model assembly, I get a huge pile of warnings for Error 11007 and 11008. Because I am http://www.wmpub.com/error11008_errorcode0x2b00.php a savvy developer (and slightly obsessive-compulsive), I don't want to see any compiler warnings after a build. Because I know these are non-issue warnings, I can safely disable is not them. Here's how to disable EF warnings in your projects: First, the following are examples of these warnings (formatted to fit nicely on this page). These noremally appear in Visual Studio's Error List window: Warning 26 Error 11007: Entity type 'LookupCode' is not mapped. 164 9 C:\development\MyProject\Main\Source\MyProject.Model\EntityModel.edmx MyProject.Model Warning 37 Error 11008: Association 'LookupCodeCustomer_MaritalStatus' is not mapped. is not mapped 345 9 C:\development\MyProject\Main\Source\MyProject.Model\EntityModel.edmx MyProject.Model These warnings are easily suppressed, by following these steps: Double-click the entity model in Visual Studio's Solution Explorerwindow, to open the model in the model designer If the Propertieswindow is not already visible, press the F4 key Change the"Validate On Build" property to FALSE Save changes to the model You're all set to go, warning free.
