None 0 Points 1 Post not a valid IIS application May 25, 2007 10:56 AM|PhilChalk_Marshalls|LINK Hi, I have a asp.net 2.0 web app which is behaving oddly in development mode. I am being shown "'/LM/W3SVC/1/ROOT/MyProj/Default.aspx' is not a valid IIS application" errors in Visual Studio despite the fact that the project compiles/builds/runs entirely OK. This error prevents me from viewing the page designs in 'Design' mode, although I can still view the page in 'Source' mode (albeit with lots of wavy error lines!). Does anyone know what the cause/solution of this is please? If you indeed have added it, then please check if u have spely i properly. Thanks Thanks Reply BenVinci Member 10 Points 2 Posts Re: not a valid IIS application - Solution Jun 28, 2007 05:10 AM|BenVinci|LINK In case anyone else gets this error.... The problem is when the project is awebsite that sits under another virtual directory. When the project is setup, VS automatically creates a pointer to the IIS site that it thinks this site SHOULD be called, so it assigns, for example, http://localhost/MyProj instead of http://localhost/MyTopLevelProj/MyProj. To change this, right-click on the project and go to properties, select the Web tab and change the Project URL to the correct location. Close and re-open any aspx pages and all should be fine. VS2012 / IIS7.5 up vote 3 down vote favorite 1 A strange behavior with my ASP.net mvc 4 application running under IIS7.5. Every time I rebuild the application, 2 applications appears on IIS filetree node of my project. The first one is fine. It is a application I http://stackoverflow.com/questions/14458189/asp-net-runtime-error-path-is-not-a-valid-iis-application-vs2012-iis7-5 have create. The second one is another that should not be present. I have renamed my application and I believe there is no more reference of the old name. The old name was Gedi. Today I was trying for the first time the publish tool from visual studio and I got this warning: Warning 1 C:\Users\Guilherme\Documents\Visual Studio 2012\Projects\gedaiapp\gedaiapp\Views\Operacao\opImportacaoConfig.cshtml: ASP.NET runtime error: '/LM/W3SVC/1/ROOT/Gedi' is not a valid IIS application. C:\Users\Guilherme\Documents\Visual Studio 2012\Projects\gedaiapp\gedaiapp\Views\Operacao\opImportacaoConfig.cshtml 1 1 gedaiapp I don't understand where this Gedi still exists. asp.net .net asp.net-mvc asp.net-mvc-4 visual-studio-2012 share|improve this question edited Jan 22 '13 at 12:12 Glauco Vinicius 1,6091533 asked Jan 22 '13 at 12:06 Guilherme Longo 95432355 add a comment| 1 Answer 1 active oldest votes up vote 4 down vote accepted Check the Web section of the project properties in Visual Studio. If you've got it set to use local IIS and this is still pointing at your old location, it's probably what's causing it to reappear each time you build. share|improve this answer answered Jan 22 '13 at 12:16 Richard 17.3k44385 You are the best...
