Mostly that look like this: Error2C:\VS_2005\WebReports\frmElectricalChargesInvoiceReport.aspx.vb(42): error BC30002: Type 'frmSiteSearch' is not defined./ And other errors in the same format "Type 'x' is not defined" where x is ASPX pages. Also got "Type 'ASP.Global_asax' is not defined" I thought that http://forums.asp.net/t/910271.aspx?Error+BC30002+Type+x+is+not+defined VS2005 was 100% compatible with VS2003 code? Does anyone know what is going on here or what the fix is? Thanks, Mark. Also -- it would be great if you could try installing the latest upgrade migration wizard (details on how to-do this found here: http://weblogs.asp.net/scottgu/archive/2005/08/07/421827.aspx), and try re-running your V1.1 project with it? If you can send your upgradelog.xml file with any errors to the above email address we can help investigate. Thanks, Scott Reply Mark D None 0 Points 8 Posts Re: Error BC30002: Type 'x' is not defined Aug 17, 2005 01:57 PM|Mark D|LINK Hi Scott, I got the latest migration wizard and just tried it out. It looks like the reference directives were the cause of the problem BC30002 err
in other versions of Visual Studio .NET. Visual Studio .NET maintains a cache of assemblies (DLLs) that sometimes becomes outdated and may contain references to old DLLs or DLLs that http://www.ironspeed.com/Designer/10.0.0/WebHelp/Part_VI/Error_BC30002_Type_XXX_is_not_defined.htm no longer exist. This problem generally manifests itself when you upgrade to a new http://p2p.wrox.com/asp-net-2-0-basics/76903-error-using-public-class-app_code-bc30002-type-xxx-not-defined.html version of Iron Speed Designer with new versions of BaseClasses.dll. Visual Studio .NET may have cached the older version of BaseClasses.dll, even though a newer version has been placed into your project folder. Update Visual Studio .NET’s references Step 1: Open the application using Visual Studio .NET. Step 2: Delete the reference to BaseClasses.dll is not and BaseClasses.Web.Controls.dll in the References section. (Note: BaseClasses.Web.Controls.dll is used in applications created by Iron Speed Designer V3.2 and earlier. This DLL is not present in applications created by Iron Speed Designer V4.0 and later.) Step 3: Add back the references again to the BaseClasses.dll and BaseClasses.Web.Controls.dll in the References section. (Note: BaseClasses.Web.Controls.dll is used in applications created by Iron Speed Designer V3.2 and earlier. This DLL is not is not defined present in applications created by Iron Speed Designer V4.0 and later.) Step 4: Rebuild and run your application. The error messages should go away. Delete the Visual Studio .NET cache folder Alternately, you may need to delete the Visual Studio .NET cache folder for your application directly in: C:\Documents and Settings\
