Pivot Table Field Name Is Not Valid Excel 2016
change the field name for a validation error it's associated with. For example, if I submit First Name (really fname in the table) without any data, it yells Fname can't be blank. Is it possible to change this to First Name can't be blank? ruby-on-rails ruby share|improve this question edited Feb 16 at 7:03 Arslan Ali 8,37661841 asked Apr 26 '11 at 3:11 stewart715 2,23772967 add a comment| 1 Answer 1 active oldest the pivottable field name is not valid excel 2007 votes up vote 43 down vote accepted The general practice now-a-days is to edit your locals like so: # config/locales/en.yml en: activerecord: attributes: user: fname: "First Name" Your error message will now say "First Name can't be..." For completeness sake, you have another option. Which is to add the following to your User Model: class User < ActiveRecord::Base HUMANIZED_ATTRIBUTES = { :fname => "First Name" } def self.human_attribute_name(attr) HUMANIZED_ATTRIBUTES[attr.to_sym] || super end end share|improve this answer edited Dec 2 '14 at 18:17 user456584 23.9k74192 answered Apr 26 '11 at 3:13 Mike Lewis 41.7k1110499 1 +1. But I think the def self.human_attribute_name(attr) is not required. –Swanand Apr 26 '11 at 5:36 8 in Rails 4 I had to add a second argument to self.human_attribute_name(attr) method call. So it becomes self.human_attribute_name(attr, options = {}) –Peter Jul 5 '13 at 14:48 add a comment| Your Answer draft saved draft discarded Sign up or log in Sign up using Google Sign up using Facebook Sign up using Email and Password Post as a guest Name Email Post as a guest Name Email discard By posting your answer, you agree to the privacy policy and terms of service.
