Clicking the element links to the requested page, but the error is there. 1) What causes the error? 2) Can it or should it be ignored? javascript php jquery share|improve this question asked Feb 1 '15 at 17:06 Architect http://stackoverflow.com/questions/28265321/anonymous-function-error-is-not-defined 50127 2 It probably means that the code runs before jQuery is imported. –Pointy Feb 1 '15 at 17:09 1 "What causes the error?" Your access to the undeclared variable $. "Can it or should it be ignored?" Errors should never be ignored. "The page and the script work as required. " Then you don't even needs this script, since it doesn't run either way. –Felix Kling Feb 1 '15 at 17:09 The page and the script work as required. Are you sure? How do you debug it? I meant if $ is undefined, the click handler cannot be fired –A. Wolff Feb 1 '15 at 17:10 Please run a proper browser/debugger (like Chrome) that will report the exact line of your source where the error occurs. Then, and only then, can you properly troubleshoot what is causing the error. –jfriend00 Feb 1 '15 at 17:25 add a comment| 3 Answers 3 active oldest votes up vote 7 down vote accepted 1) It looks like your problem is that jQuery haven't been loaded. Make sure you load jQuery before scripts.js.
2) Errors should never be ignored. share|improve this answer edited Feb 1 '15 at 17:34 answered Feb 1 '15 at 17:10 kopa 1137 1 No need for this to be a commMonit Nagios NRPE Network Services DHCP DNS FTP Databases MySQL MariaDB MongoDB PostgreSQL SQL Server Amazon Web Services Submit Article About Us Home Ubuntu http://tecadmin.net/referenceerror-is-not-defined-javascript/ 16.04 Whats New ? JavaScript Leave a Comment While writing a JavaScript program, I faced following error many times. If you are also getting the same error, This article will help you to fix this error. Solution 1 :- Generally this error found when we forgot to include core jQuery JavaScript file. So is not defined make sure you have included jQuery JavaScript in your web page. Solution 2 :- If you already have included jQuery file in your webpage. Now check the sequence of adding JavaScript files in your webpage. Might be you have included some JavaScript files before core jQuery script file. So make sure that code jQuery file is included at top of other JavaScript files.

I'm getting the infamous "Uncaught ReferenceError: JQuery is not defined" error, although in the page source the JQuery script is loaded. In my theme's functions.php : function load_jquery() { wp_deregister_script('jquery'); wp_register_script('jquery', 'https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/2.1.3/jquery.min.js', false, '2.1.3'); wp_enqueue_script('jquery'); } add_action('init', 'load_jquery'); In my home page template : wp_enqueue_script('jquery'); wp_register_script( 'home-js', get_template_directory_uri() . '/js/home-js.js' ); wp_enqueue_script( 'home-js', get_template_directory_uri() . '/js/home-js.js' ); wp_register_style( 'my-style', get_template_directory_uri() . '/my-style.css' ); wp_enqueue_style( 'my-style', get_template_directory_uri() . '/my-style.css' ); wp_head(); My home.js is simply : JQuery(document).ready(function () { alert('hello world'); }); I had 1 plugin but I disabled it in case it was doing conflict. My home.js is loading properly (it is the file throwing the JQuery is not defined error. In the page source the JQuery script tag is linking properly to the Google file. jquery customization share|improve this question asked Jul 25 '15 at 9:24 PoloRM 31 closed as off-topic by toscho♦ Jul 25 '15 at 9:42 This question appears to be off-topic.
