Uncaught Referenceerror: Jquery Is Not Defined
Aug 2007 Posts 1 WebBrowser runtime error I'm using a WebBrowser control in VB6 to login to myspace, get a list of friends, send a comment to each user on the list, etc. I'm having problems when I navigate to a myspace profile page (a blank profile with no fancy layout). Sometimes it does this, sometimes it does not but when it does it stops navigating

to new pages. The error is: Runtime Error OnlineNowNodeParser is undefined. Then it asks me if I want to debug or not. It doesn't crash the program when I press no and when I had a msgbox popping up after the profile page loaded, if I clicked ok on the msgbox then it would resume navigating pages and such. OnlineNowNodeParser isn't anything in my applications code. It's in a piece of script on the myspace profile page. It looks like this: HTML Code: I already tried using On Error Resume Next in just about all WebBrowser events but I think this error is from the WebBrowser control itself trying to interpret page elements. I don't get this error when using Firefox 2.0 or IE6, just the WebBrowser control in my application. Any idea how to ignore/fix this when it occurs? For example, given the example with jQuery above, we can make a call to noConflict() to restore is not defined the variable.Old references of $ are saved during jQuery initialization; noConflict() simply restores them. But that's getting beyond the point of this article. The thing is, simply restoring a variable or giving it a definition especially when it's related to a third-party dependency is not as easy.Instead, the problem can usually be resolved in one of two ways.1. Load the Libraries in Proper OrderArguably, the most popular reason for seeing a ReferenceError has to do with the fact that our script is referencing a variable that has yet to be defined. To fix this, it's generally a problem of the files being loaded out of order and this is especially true if the error is being thrown in the context of a site or web application that has its own libraries, then the scripts are probably loading later than your own. This means that either the scripts are placed after yours in the head element of the page or they are being loaded in the footer of the page.
