notconnected (3.0.37) Next message: [Samba] Updated Samba 3.4.2 on Solaris 10 but still returns 3.0.37? Messages sorted by: [ date ] [ thread ] [ subject ] [ author ] I find I have to have both ports open- read_fd_with_timeout: client 0.0.0.0 read error = connection reset by peer. then again my main samba servers are configured as DC's. I don't know getpeername failed. error was transport endpoint is not connected windows 7 about member servers, but DC file server are using SMB-over-NetBIOS-over-IP (NT4 style) - I don't think they can support pure SMB-over-TCP/IP. getpeername failed. error was socket is not connected I had tried setting to 139 only- I think some XP and Win 7 clients make an initial connection to port 445 then get redirected. If I disabled Netbios on the XP clients, they samba getpeername failed transport endpoint is not connected can't connect to a samba DC. -----Original Message----- From: samba-bounces at lists.samba.org [mailto:samba-bounces at lists.samba.org] On Behalf Of Andrew Masterson Sent: Thursday, March 10, 2011 1:56 PM To: Jack Bush; samba at lists.samba.org Subject: Re: [Samba] getpeername failed. You only need 445 in most modern worlds, unless you're a PDC from what I can tell. I stuck this in my smb.conf file: # restrict ports to avoid # "getpeername failed. Error was Transport endpoint is not connected" and # "Error writing 4 bytes to client. -1. (Transport endpoint is not connected)" # errors from port 139 legacy mode - PDC may need 139 open smb ports = 445 -=Andrew -- To unsubscribe from this list go to the following URL and read the instructions: https://lists.samba.org/mailman/options/samba Previous message: [Samba] getpeername failed. 5th, 2009, 05:27 PMHi, I have set up an Ubuntu intrepid server as a file server at my work, thru Samba. Clients have been successfully connecting for https://ubuntuforums.org/archive/index.php/t-1061013.html several months. They are Mac OSX, WinXP, Vista, and Ubuntu users. Yesterday the Vista computer couldn't connect, and today no-one can connect. :( The server is available on the network - I can ssh into it from other machines and smbd is running: simon@sciproj-server:~$ ps -ef | grep smb root 4539 1 0 16:19 ? 00:00:00 /usr/sbin/smbd -D root 4572 4539 0 is not 16:19 ? 00:00:00 /usr/sbin/smbd -D Here's the log: [2009/02/05 16:19:45, 0] smbd/server.c:main(1213) smbd version 3.2.3 started. The clients sees a password rejection, or nothing Thanks for any advice Simon sipicklesFebruary 6th, 2009, 11:56 AMbump Sorry about that - my colleagues are getting unimpressed! superprash2003February 6th, 2009, 06:29 PMhmm.. post outpt of cat /etc/samba/smbusers and try restarting samba sudo /etc/init.d/samba restart sipicklesFebruary 9th, 2009, 09:13 AMHi, thanks for the reply I dont have a file on the system called /etc/samba/smbusers.
