Hold the home & sleep buttons down at the same time until that apple logo appears, that will reset the phone. See if that fixs the problem. If not, you may have to do a complete restore in iTunes or call apple for help.Message was edited by: mdstone Helpful (0) Reply options Link to this post by shonnarchy, shonnarchy Jan 20, 2011 12:51 PM in response to jmlawler13 Level 1 (0 points) Jan 20, 2011 12:51 PM in response to jmlawler13 my phone just started having this same issue. it prompt me that an accessory is not made to work with iphone every few minutes, even though nothing has been attached. i also hit cancel and go about my business... but it's a drag to have to say "cancel" all the time. furthermore, it shuts off the "lock" and "unlock" sounds, yet the phone still rings and operates correctly. 8.1, 8.2, 8.3 and 8.4? You are not alone. Many Apple users are complaining that the error This Accessory this cable or accessory is not certified nothing plugged in May Not Be Supported appears right after upgrading to the new iOS and it has nothing to do with the faulty device or cable. Solution? As much as we don't like https://discussions.apple.com/thread/1284032?tstart=0 to tell you this, the problem has to do with the faulty charging cable of your iPhone or iPad. After going through dozens of pages to find a way to get rid of "accessory may not be support" problem, we have come to the following conclusion: Your iPhone has dust inside the charging port Your cable is faulty or it has dust inside those http://ios8release.com/this-accessory-may-not-be-supported-error-fix/ pins But iOS 8 update created this problem, right? Yes, you are probably right. We can't say for sure, but we know what fixes this problem. And so here are 5 solutions that will end the "accessory" issue during iPhone charging almost permanently. Note: Even if you have OEM apple charger/cable, or a brand new iPhone 6/5s device and its under warranty, you may still face this problem (and the solutions mentioned below will work for you). Solution 1: Change the cable Don't buy a new one. If you have a spare cable (we had iPod Touch cable and it works with our old iPhone 4s), you can always plug it into the power socket and charge your iPhone. Notice if the error still appears. If it doesn't, you are good. If it does, go through the next solution. You can purchase third-party cables and accessories, but they must be certified. If a cable or accessory wasn't certified by Apple, you'll see a warning message when you connect it. However, this message can sometimes appear incorrectly, too. How Apple's Certification is not Works RELATED ARTICLEStop Huddling by the Outlet: Longer Smartphone Cables Are Dirt Cheap Apple offers an "MFi Certification Program." "MFi" stands for "Made for iPhone," "Made for iPad," and "Made for iPod." Third-party accessories and cables that advertise they're "MFi certified" have gone through Apple's certification process to ensure they're compatible with Apple's hardware and well-made. iPhones and iPads started enforcing this restriction when iOS 7 was introduced. There's actually a little authentication accessory is not chip inside Lightning cables and other accessories. This authentication chip communicates with your iPhone or iPad, which is how your device knows whether you're using an Apple-approved cable or accessory, or one the manufacturer didn't put through Apple's certification program. Cables that aren't MFi certified don't have the chip inside them, and they won't work properly with an iPhone or iPad. When buying Lightning cables, be sure to get MFi-certified ones. That doesn't mean you have to buy Apple's cables, as there are less expensive options. For example, Amazon has its own AmazonBasics brand of Lightning cable that can be had for $7 each, while Anker's MFi-certified cables can be had for $6 on Amazon. Apple charges $19 for its own cables. We've also had good luck with the longer Sundix-brand cables. Apple has a web page designed to help you identify counterfeit or uncertified Lightning cables and accessories. It lays out Apple's argument for why the certification process exists. Uncertified cables could damage your iPhone or iPad, or the cable itself might easily fall apart. The Lightning connector might fall off, get very hot, or not fit your device properly. You might be unable to sync or charge your iPhone or iPad with the cable, too. That's why the message warns "This cable or accessory is not certified and may
