left me, of course, unable to add new music to my library, and meant that I was constantly re-downloading the same podcasts over and over. I began my search for a fix in the C:UsersDennisMusiciTunes directory, since https://discussions.apple.com/thread/1912814?start=30& that's where my iTunes library files reside (I'm on Windows 7, by the way), and noticed that "Temp File.tmp" had no "owner." Despite trying every known fix in the book (including contacting Apple and Microsoft tech support), nothing I tried would resolve the situation. I scoured the ‘net in search of a solution, and found more than a few helpless iTunes users with the same problem, but none of the suggested fixes helped in http://www.technologytell.com/apple/68617/itunes-library-file-cannot-be-saved-heres-a-fix/ my case. Thank the Force, I've finally stumbled upon a solution, and it has nothing to do with the "Temp File.tmp" file, or anything else in that directory, for that matter. If you're having the same problem, here's what worked for me (again, in Windows 7): Navigate to the directory in which iTunes is installed (most likely C:Program Files (x86)iTunes) Right lick on iTunes.exe and select "Properties" Under the Security tab, select "Edit" Under "Group or user names," select your user name (or if your user name isn't there, select "Add" and add it Make sure "Full Control" is checked under "Permissions for…" Click "Apply" I have no idea how my user name lost Full control access under iTunes, especially given that I haven't installed anything related to iTunes in the past few weeks (I suspect my antivirus software may be to blame). Whatever the cause, this resolved my situation lickety split. 45 TAGS: appletell how to, gadgetell, hometechtell, itunes, itunes access privileges, itunes fix, itunes permissions, the itunes library file cannot be saved. you do not have enough access privleges for this operation, windows 7 itunes Related Articles Tamala Sadly, your fix didn't work for me. Hi, I am having a problem with iTunes that I need to fix immediately! (I use iTunes for work) I was importing files into iTunes tonight, and received the following message: 'The iTunes Library file cannot be saved. The required file cannot be found'. In my iTunes folder, I see the following files: iTunes Library iTunes Library.xml iTunes Library Extras.itdb iTunes Library Genius.itdb I'm still able to cannot be saved play songs from my collection. This error message keeps popping up though! Would anyone kindly be able to help me to solve this problem? I'm using iTunes 11.01, and OS X 10.6.8. Thanks in advance! As a first step I would go to disk utility and verify/repair your permissions, and then report back if that does not fix this. Do you have iTunes backed up by the way>? I verified and repaired permissions, but I am still getting the same error message. I have my iTunes library file backed up. My iTunes library is stored on an external drive, I backed this up several weeks ago, I'll back it up again tonight. Do you have any other suggestions for me to try? The files in iTunes are still playing fine. Thanks again, would love to solve this asap! Reply With Quote 02-26-2013,09:27 PM #4 bobtomay View Profile View Foru

No sweat. If you've since tried to downgrade your iTunes beta back to a publicly released version of iTunes, resulting in the horrible ‘”iTunes Library.itl” cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of iTunes’ error message, don't succumb to tears just yet; we've got a fix that might just work. Save the precious iTunes library that you've spent hours upon hours massaging to perfection, and tune in to the following video tutorial… How to Downgrade iTunes and Save Your iTunes Library Step 1: Uninstall new version of iTunes, and install previous version. Step 2: Navigate to your Home folder and go to the Music/iTunes/ primary folder. Step 3: Locate ‘iTunes Library.itl', and rename it to ‘iTunes Library.old'. Step 4: Navigate to the ‘Previous iTunes Libraries' folder, and locate the most recent library file, e.g. ‘iTunes Library 2011-09-21'. This is the most recent backup of your iTunes library file. [Note: if you've used the new version of iTunes for some time, you may need to use an older backup file. Try the most recent first, and if it doesn't work, try the second most recent, etc.] Step 5: Copy the most recent backup of your iTunes library file, and paste it in the Music/iTunes primary folder. Next, rename the backup file to ‘iTunes Library.itl'. Step 6: Open iTunes, and your library should be back to normal prior to the iTunes upgrade. If you're considering downgrading your copy of iTunes, I highly advise you to watch the video to see how simple this is. Always be sure to bac
