do not have enough access privileges for this operation." Those words the itunes library file cannot be saved the required disk cannot be found have plagued my nightmares for the past week. I generally consider myself a rather computer-savvy fellow, but the itunes library file cannot be saved. the disk you are attempting to use is full that error kept popping up in iTunes, seemingly out of nowhere, and I couldn't find a fix for the error after days of trying. Which left me, of https://discussions.apple.com/thread/1912814?start=30& course, unable to add new music to my library, and meant that I was constantly re-downloading the same podcasts over and over. I began my search for a fix in the C:UsersDennisMusiciTunes directory, since that's where my iTunes library files reside (I'm on Windows 7, by the way), and noticed that "Temp File.tmp" had no "owner." Despite http://www.technologytell.com/apple/68617/itunes-library-file-cannot-be-saved-heres-a-fix/ trying every known fix in the book (including contacting Apple and Microsoft tech support), nothing I tried would resolve the situation. I scoured the ‘net in search of a solution, and found more than a few helpless iTunes users with the same problem, but none of the suggested fixes helped in my case. Thank the Force, I've finally stumbled upon a solution, and it has nothing to do with the "Temp File.tmp" file, or anything else in that directory, for that matter. If you're having the same problem, here's what worked for me (again, in Windows 7): Navigate to the directory in which iTunes is installed (most likely C:Program Files (x86)iTunes) Right lick on iTunes.exe and select "Properties" Under the Security tab, select "Edit" Under "Group or user names," select your user name (or if your user name isn't there, select "Add" and add it Make sure "Full Control" is checked under "Permissions for…" Click "Apply" I have no idea how my user name lost Full control access un
OS X, which is typically done for the purposes of downgrading iTunes to a previous version. If you've done this and you are now encountering an error about "iTunes Library.itl" not being readable http://osxdaily.com/2011/09/22/fix-the-itunes-library-itl-cannot-be-read-version-error-when-downgrading-itunes/ due to it's creation by a newer version of iTunes, here's the fix which http://forums.ilounge.com/itunes-related-mac-pc-applications/234990-please-help-itunes-library-file-cannot-saved-disk-full-error.html is nice and easy: Remove the newer version of iTunes and install the older version as originally intended Hit Command+Shift+G and type ~/Music/iTunes/ Rename "iTunes Library.itl" to "iTunes Library.old" - this serves as a backup in case something goes wrong In the same iTunes folder, open "Previous iTunes Libraries" and track down the most recent version of an iTunes itunes library Library file, these are named by dates of iTunes installations in the format of "iTunes Library 2011-08-29.itl" etc Copy the most recent version of that file to your desktop (or elsewhere, or use cut and paste) Navigate back to ~/Music/iTunes/ and move or paste the file here, renaming it to "iTunes Library.itl" Relaunch iTunes iTunes should now load trouble-free and without the "iTunes Library.itl cannot be read because it was created by a newer cannot be saved version of iTunes" error message. Note: If you have moved the iTunes Library to another location, you'll need to enter that directory path rather than ~/Music/iTunes/. Likewise, if you're using Windows the iTunes directory is going to be located in My Documents > My Music > iTunes. Enjoy this tip?
