It features many of the same characteristics as the C713, including a 3X optical zoom lens and a 2.4 inch indoor/outdoor color display. However, it also is host to an 8.2 MP camera versus the 7.0 featured on the C713. Note: This troubleshooting guide covers only the C813 camera. LCD screen is damaged¶ LCD screen is cracked and/or no image can be viewed on the screen. The only solution to a damaged LCD screen is to replace. Obtain a replacement LCD screen that fits this camera. Then visit LCD Screen Repair Guide for instructions to replace the LCD screen. No images in review mode¶ The screen has a black or blue display in review mode. Error in camera settings¶ Check image storage location setting to see that the pictures taken are saved in the desired folder. After viewing storage settings, retake picture and see if problem occurs again. If the problem continues, try the next method. Memory card issue¶ After inspecting the image storage location setting, try reinserting the memory card or replacing it with a new one and then retake the pictures. Visit Memory Card Installation guide for instructions to install memory card. Shutter button does take pictures¶ '' The camera does not perform any actions when the shutter button is pressed." While the lens may or may not appear to extend correctly it most likely does not reach the correct sensor point and causing the shutdown. Lens errors are a common problem. Dirt can get into the gears or the lens can become misaligned from being carried in pockets, purses or from impact. Start out by holding the camera "lens down" and lightly tapping the body while switching it on and off. Next try canned compressed air in the space between the lens barrel and the camera body.With newer camera I am hesitant to suggest using the more invasive of these options since they include some more extreme procedures that may cause further damage the unit and void the warranty, if not done correctly, but with the older one, they may save you an expensive repair bill. The two links below give step by step DIY instructions on troubleshooting and attempting to fix this problem. An older Canon camera is used to demonstrate these procedures so, the lens structure of these compact cameras is the same so the examples do apply to this unit.
