Ldap Error Code 32
Page 1 of 2 • 1, 2 by elaan » Mon Aug 19, 2002 1:07 am I'm testing LDAP Administrator 2.3 (Demo version) with iPlanet Directory Server 5.1. When changing the userPassword attribute I invariably http://forums.ipswitch.com/Topic30296.aspx get the message "[Error 19] Constraint violation". To rule out any security-problems I've also tried this with the cn=Directory Manager logon to no avail. I'm running LDAP Administrator on WinNT 4 Service Pack 6 with Internet Explorer 5.5. The server is iPlanet Directory Server 5.1 on Solaris 8 (if that matters). What can I do to make it work? elaan Posts: 13Joined: Fri Aug 02, 2002 12:00 am Top by Support http://www.ldapadministrator.com/forum/constraint-violation-when-changing-password-t52.html » Mon Aug 19, 2002 1:26 am
There are a lot of reasons when the iPlanet (formerly Netscape) server returns this error. Here is an extract from the Netscape SDK:
The request adds or modifies the userpassword attribute, and one of the following is true:
- The server is configured to check the password syntax, and the length of the new password is less than the minimum password length.
- The server is configured to check the password syntax, and the new password is the same as one of the values of the uid, cn, sn, givenname, ou, or mail attributes.
- The server is configured to keep a history of previous passwords, and the new password is the same as one of the previous passwords. I've tried this with: - at least 10 different passwords; - passwords that I know are not in the history; - with the password-history cleared; - with the password-history disabled; - etc. Moreover: I have t

Now that the migration is complete, I cannot start the LDAP service. Everything I have been able to find on Google ldap error says that it is a registry issue but I can't find anything specific to MailEnable. The cluster member server we have does not have this issue.Starting the service from Windows Services yields the following error: "Windows could not start the MailEnable LDAP Service on Local Computer. For more information, review the System Event Log. If this is a non-Microsoft service, contact the service vendor, and refer to service-specific error code 19."The ldap error code event log says: Event Type: ErrorEvent Source: Service Control ManagerEvent Category: NoneEvent ID: 7024Date: 4/6/2010Time: 3:06:17 PMUser: N/AComputer: OGDMAILDescription:The MailEnable LDAP Service service terminated with service-specific error 19 (0x13).For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp. Do you have any other LDAP service running on the server using the same port? There is a readme.txt file located within the LDAP folder in the MailEnable installation path which contains information on how to change the port number that the LDAP service runs on. The only application that was installed is MailEnable EE 4.22. 19 Nothing in the Ipswitch kbase matches exactly. There is a general article that indicates you should validate the registry manually (ugh! - I have about 400 domains on this box), but nothing that describes error 19... Does anybody have any info on this one? Does anyone have a registry validation tool? -Dave DohertySkywaves, Inc.301-652-8822 x209 Previous message View by thread View by date Next message [Declude.JunkMail] LDAP Error 19 / Registry validation t...
