minutes. Join Now I'm having a hard time trying to identify the issue... So far I've ran ldap error 82(0x52) local error following tests without any errors, on both the PDC and a second DC, which both give the "LDAP error 81 (Server Down) Win32 Err ldap error 81 server down win32 err 58 server 2012 58" error after running "repadmin /showrepl /all /verbos": repadmin /replsum dcdiag /test:dns /s: /DnsBasic dcdiag /v /c /d /e /s: repadmin /syncall repadmin /showrepl * also used the AD Replication Status Tool - no errors detected. Thai Pepper OP britv8 Oct 3, 2014 at 1:00 UTC OS version? any old dcs in the repladmin? 0 Sonora OP Joseph9297 Oct 3, 2014 at 2:12 UTC oh, yea... sorry. I posted two separate questions about these DCs and forgot to mention OS version on this one. 7 DCs, all running windows server 2003, the PDC is STANDARD R2,SP2, others are STANDARD or ENTERPRISE, R1 SP2. When you say old dcs... if my comment

above doesn't answer that question and you are referring to physical age, yes. I do have one physical box that has been around for 11 years. The others are all virtual - I do not know their actual "age". The PDC has only been in service a few years. 0 Thai Pepper OP Helpful Post britv8 Oct 4, 2014 at 8:55 UTC Old DCs - I mean dcs that no longer exist in real life, but exist in AD (e.g. under NTDS settings for servers in sites and services) This gives you a bit of an idea of what I mean. http://blogs.technet.com/b/askds/archive/2010/01/27/dcdiag-advertising-test-with-error-81.aspx Example in this one was a DC that was turned off, but not properly demoted, and another DC was built with the same name Verify what the issue actually is before rushing into adsiedit.msc And even before that, make sure you have a windows/NT backup of your system drive of your server holding the FSMO roles, (and a system state backup)cause if you screw up in adsiedit , your in a world of pain 0 Sonora OP Joseph9297 Oct 7, 2014 at 1:21 UTC I found a few DCs where isGlobalCatalogReady is false. Thanks for the heads up. 0 Sonora OP Joseph9297 Oct 15, 2014 at 7:18 UTC so, I it's been about week since my last update - sorry. Been stumped by this a while now ob

Ldap Error 0x51 Server Down Ldap_connect
Since this happened over the weekend, I went back to Saturday's logs. I don't know what's normal and what's not. A lot ad replication status tool of replication errors (don't understand what that means). Mostly just informational entries. 0 Cayenne OP IT-Witch Dec 28, 2011 at 12:03 UTC Well, apparently Micorosft took down their Technet Library? 0 https://community.spiceworks.com/topic/596809-can-t-find-cause-for-ldap-error-81-server-down-win32-err-58 Mace OP Helpful Post Jay6111 Dec 28, 2011 at 12:06 UTC So the replication problems are what's causing the issues with users not being able to access drives and what not. So you could start with a non destructive dcdiag fix. Right click command prompt and run as administrator, then type the following. dcdiag /fix -Jay 0 Cayenne OP IT-Witch Dec 28, 2011 at 12:10 UTC ran dcdiag.exe /e https://community.spiceworks.com/topic/186829-dns-problem?page=2 got a lot of stuff I don't understand, but there is a lot of "failing" going on... 0 Cayenne OP IT-Witch Dec 28, 2011 at 12:11 UTC the dcdiag.exe /fix isn't going to delete stuff is it? edit: I'm getting similar messages on both DCs 0 Mace OP Jay6111 Dec 28, 2011 at 12:13 UTC No it won't, delete stuff and you can also run your first one with the /f:"C:\dcdiag.txt" that will export the contents to a text file on the C drive for better reading. -Jay 0 Cayenne OP IT-Witch Dec 28, 2011 at 12:16 UTC Is it supposed to look like this? dcdiag.exe /fix /f:"C:\dcdiag.txt" 0 Mace OP Jay6111 Dec 28, 2011 at 12:23 UTC you can drop the /fix on that just to get the output of the results for now. You can then post it up here as an attachment excluding any personal info. -Jay 0 Cayenne OP IT-Witch Dec 28, 2011 at 12:32 UTC DC1 log 0 Cayenne OP IT-Witch Dec 28, 2011 at 12:36 UTC DC2 log 0 OP Kris (Spiceworks) Dec 28, 2011 at 12:45 UTC You have a severe replication problem. The DCs have
the trouble and I found the options DISABLE_INBOUND_REPL and DISABLE_OUTBOUND_REPL are enabled. I yelled: "Wow! I found the source of the problem!" Not at all: I typed repadmin http://www.networksteve.com/forum/topic.php/The_source_server_is_currently_rejecting_replication_requests/?TopicId=35397&Posts=8 /options -DISABLE_INBOUND_REPL and I got this error: Repadmin can't connect to a "home http://windowsitpro.com/active-directory/active-directory-replication-status-tool-ad-utility-weve-all-been-waiting-almost server", because of the following error. Try specifying a different home server with /homeserver:[dns name] Error: An LDAP lookup operation failed with the following error: LDAP Error 81(0x51): Server Down Server Win32 Error 0(0x0): Extended Information: Do you have any suggestions or ideas? Thanks a lot Mike September 13th, ldap error 2012 9:17am I tested the DNS communication between the two domain controllers and it's ok. They also can ping each other. Please post an unedited ipconfig /all from the DC/DNS ldap error 81 servers here, so we can verify some basic settings.Best regards Meinolf Weber MVP, MCP, MCTS Microsoft MVP - Directory Services My Blog: http://msmvps.com/blogs/mweber/ Disclaimer: This posting is provided AS IS with no warranties or guarantees and confers no rights. Since its architecture is spread across multiple domain controllers (DCs), AD scales extremely well and is highly fault tolerant to domain controller errors. However, the highly sophisticated replication engine that keeps AD data consistent across all these DCs is dependent on many other systems such as basic network topology, firewall configurations, and DNS. Active Directory topics are the highest call volume generator for Microsoft's Customer Support Services, and replication failures generate among the highest call volumes within the AD support area. AD replication is a complicated subject. First, the actual step-by-step replication process between two replication partner DCs is not trivial to understand, and comes with a heavy dose of new concepts that have names like "up-to-dateness vector", "invocation I
