Tenyotkin's Website. There the instructions are comprehensively laid out, thanks Val. http://www.batteringram.org/misc/f707repairBefore I undertook this serious operation, I tried the usual methods:Reset the camera, Push the stick in and out fast many times, https://community.sony.com/t5/Cybershot-Cameras/Error-C-13-01/td-p/7625 Tried all my different memory sticks, Lubricated the contacts…All to no avail, nothing workedThen I followed the above instructions. It’s a very fiddly job, and the greatest difficulty was to remove the screws inside. The reason was Loctite (a sort of glue for screws). Every screw was glued in place. The screws are so very small, that I had to put some sort of vice https://www.dpreview.com/forums/post/31545144 on the screwdriver in order to put downward force onto the little screws to break the seal. It’s very easy to mess up the small Philips head screws.Anyway, I disassembled the camera as per instructions and I went one step further by taking the memory bay apart and cleaned it.Here are the pictures I took after leaving off from Val’s instructions. Keep in mind, they are not meant to win any art awards.I am happy to say, the camera works again like a charm -- hide signature -- Bernd Taeger Reply to thread Reply with quote Complain ForumParentFirstPreviousNextFlat view Post (hide subjects) Posted by When Sony DSC F717 C:13:01 memory stick error FIXED Bernd Taeger Apr 9, 2009 What do you charge, Bernd? busch Apr 9, 2009 Re: What do you charge, Bernd? Make sure you are using compatible media. Even though the media you are using may fit, it may not necessarily be supported with your camera. For example, SD, SDHC, and SDXC media cards are the same size, however, each one is made up of a different memory capacity and format. Older cameras that use a standard SD card may not support the higher capacity SDHC and SDXC cards. The same thing is true for Memory Stick Duo and Memory Stick PRO Duo. Although Memory Stick Duo and Memory Stick PRO Duo are the same size, older cameras that use Memory Stick Duo may not support the higher capacity Memory Stick PRO Duo. So, double-check that sure you are using the correct media for your
who have owned a Sony Cybershot camera one way or another and have probably encountered the dreaded error C:13:01 message. I hope you never got into this problem but if you are reading this, Oh no! Yes, I hear yah! I've been there before and have scratched my head in total disappointment. Hopefully, my little Fix 'N Trix will put a smile in your face. I too have had this problem before and thought it was a memory stick problem. I replaced my memory stick and lo and behold, there it was again. Three memory stick replacement and still it was there. While others are lucky to really have an issue with just one memory stick, others like me however are unfortunate. It seems as though the problem rests internally in the camera itself--more specifically the connector/plugs that connects the memory stick to its reader. I have found a way around this and I hope this will also do the trick in eradicating your error code and hopefully save you some money. First thing though, make sure you have tried replacing your memory stick with a new one. And if you still encounter the error code then you know its not the memory stick, its the camera! The Artsybelle C:13:01 Fix: 1. Turn off the camera. 2. Slide and push the memory stick all the way past its clicking point until there is no more room to push. 3. Hold it for a minute or so. 4. Turn on your camera while you are still holding the memory stick all the way in. 5. Slowly release the memory stick, you should feel/hear a click that the memory stick is in place. 6. If that does not work, redo the whole thing until your patience run out. An Optional Fix: If doing it over and over again didnt help, hold the camera in one hand and gently tap it on the other hand repeatedly (like a hammering fashion). Getting mad should also expidite your case. Tap it in the front. Sometimes, paper thin connectors often come lose from time to time and this should help secure it without opening the camera. The older Cybershot S series are plague by this loose connector problems. After tapping, redo the memory stick trick. The One More Last Trick: When all other trix and fix are exhausted and no solution is in sight--apply the e-bay trick. If you want to spread the good word, I'd appreciate if you can please refer back to this
