My Sony DSC-F707 camera has finally gone haywire. I'm getting the Memory Stick Access Error "c:13:01" message and from what I've seen on the internet, this is a very common problem with Sony cameras. The problem is this: I can get to the photos, etc (via a memory stick reader), but I cannot use my camera to shoot photos anymore. In my other Sony camera the stick works fine, but in the F707 it does not. I have so far tried re-inserting the stick several times and turning the camera on, but to no avail. I've also re-formated the stick, but that didn't solve my problem either.I'm sure a lot of other people have had this problem, but I was hoping if anyone here had a solution, or any ideas on how to fix this.Thank you,- Nick Post a reply Discussion is locked Flag Permalink You are

between the contacts of the memory card and of the camera. Because of this the fixes that I provide attempt to fix a possible contact issue. I recommend that you try the card in a memory card reader (you can https://www.cnet.com/forums/discussions/please-help-dreaded-c-13-01-error-169962/ buy one for very cheap) before attempting the fix in order to get your pictures off first. Fix One: Find yourself a pencil with an eraser at the end. Take the memory stick and rub the gold contacts gently with the eraser. Do this for 20-30 seconds until you've covered the entire surface of the contacts. Then insert the card into the camera, switch to "setup" mode and turn the camera on. This should turn off the error message. The http://www.thefakegeek.com/2009/04/how-to-fix-the-sony-c1301-error/ person I heard this fix from recommends you then format the card using the cameras format command. Fix Two: We will try to make sure that there is a proper connection between the contacts on the memory card and the camera. To do this remove and insert the memory stick several times over. Some recommend 5, 10, and even 20 times. The point is to get that card to align properly. Fix Three: Try to wiggle the card until the error disappears. This should restore contact. Fix Four: There are tabs on some cameras that guide the card into the slot. Bend these just the slightest bit towards each other in order to get the card to fit firmly into the slot. Be careful with this step in order to avoid breaking or otherwise damaging the tabs. Having other problems with your computer? Simply scan your computer for free to identify problem areas. I think everyone here will benefit from. After searching everywhere on the internet, none of the solutions provided help me out. Here's what I found. The problem is that if you ever use the memory stick on other http://www.pechorin.com/m/2004/01/20/SONY_C1301_ERROR-208392.html camera besides the Sony DSC-F707 or format the memory stick on a computer instead of using https://community.sony.co.uk/t5/cyber-shot-compact-cameras/c-13-01-error/td-p/174613 the camera's format feature, then you will experience the "Memory Stick Error C:13:01" problem. Here's the solution that finally worked for me. Take any lead pencil. Take the eraser and rub it on the gold contacts on the memory stick as if you are erasing writing on paper. Do this for about 30 seconds or more until you get all the gold memory stick contacts. Put the stick in the camera, switch to 'Setup', then turn the camera on. The 'C:13:01' error will automatically disappear. At this point, quickly format the memory stick using the camera's format feature. CAUTION: NEVER FORMAT YOUR MEMORY STICK ON OTHER CAMERAS, USING A COMPUTER WITH A MEMORY STICK READER OR USING WINDOWS XP WITH A USB CABLE PLUGGED TO THE CAMERA. IT DOESN'T WORK. FORMAT YOUR MEMORY STICK USING THE CAMERA'S BUILT IN FUNCTION ONLY. Hope formatting memory stick it helps and best regards. I tried the erase trick but it didn´t work. Tried the thumps, nothing happened. Someone told about putting aftershave?!! well, this I didn´t have the courage..I´m just tired to look up in internet for a solution, I ´m totally desperated because all my little girl´s photos , from her first year, are in this memory stick , and I ´ll be very very sad if I loose them. I´ve concluded that the defect is in the memory stick because the camera reads prefectly another one I have, so do the computer.regards, Andrea Comment 1, Last comment by samlucido Jun 16, 2012 Re[2]: SONY C:13:01 ERROR Naveed Posted Aug 21, 2010 hi i did this and it worked fine. i havae applied aftershave i.e sprit on memory card contacts and it worked.
