When running it on windows 7, it works perfectly. No crash till now. On windows xp, it does not crash too. The only way to get a feed back is to look at the event viewer and I get the following error: Event Type: Error Event Source: .NET Runtime 2.0 Error Reporting Event Category: None Event ID: 1000 Date: Time: User: N/A Computer: ""> Description: Faulting application http://stackoverflow.com/questions/4314667/net-runtime-2-0-error-due-to-mscorwks-dll-on-windows-server-2003 "">, "">, stamp 4ce54d0f, faulting module mscorwks.dll, version 2.0.50727.1433, stamp 471ef729, debug? 0, fault address 0x000f675b. What caused this? up vote 1 down vote favorite I have a new program which has been running 24/7 for over net runtime 2 weeks now but last night it crash/went down with no Fatal log exception in my log4net file ...the process appears to have been killed by someting .... and when I looked in the Windows Event Viewer Application log it contained an error for the programs process saying '.NET Runtime 2.0 Error' Type: Error EventID: 1000. This appears to be a .Net runtime failure/bug and has nothing to do with my code. Does anyone know what caused this? Is there a .Net net runtime 2.0 runtime fix? /I'm running .Net 3.5 on a Window Server 2003 vm slice. Thanks in advance. Edit: Full event description below. But what could cause this? A .Net bug? –DayTwo Oct 6 '10 at 10:52 Not likely. More likely: crappy hardware. You use ECC RAM? Could just be a flipped bit. –TomTom Oct 6 '10 at 11:18 add a comment| 2 Answers 2 active oldest votes up vote 2 down vote As you are not getting any useful information at the time of the crash, an alternative approach is to attach a debugger to the crashing EXE. Doyon Guest Hello, I am having issues with a .net 2.0 service randomly crashing on an 8 way machine running a 32bit .net server 2k3. The event log contains an entry indicating that there's a fault in mscorwks.dll, no stack trace attached, no dump, no drWatson, nothing. I just configured the system to take a crash dump, but the mean time to failure being 32 hours, I'd like to know where to look for my crash before it occurs again (joys of random production issues). The app uses a 3rd party mixed-mode dll, and relies heavily on multithreading and async I/O, so there are too many area where it may crash. I did notice on thing in the two eventlog entries I got, is that the faulting addresses are always the same. I let the app ran for 2 hours before taking a memory snapshot, but I couldn't find the offending method. Thanks a lot guys! -- Here's the event log : Event Type: Error Event Source: .NET Runtime 2.0 Error Reporting Event Category: None Event ID: 1000 Date: 11/02/2008 Time: 03:00:08 User: N/A Computer: LONL00180036 Description: Faulting application myapp.exe, version 2.0.3.8617, stamp 47af2a25, faulting module mscorwks.dll, version 2.0.50727.832, stamp 461f2e2a, debug? 0, fault address 0x000b5fa3. 0x79F25FA3 Florian Doyon, Feb 12, 2008 #1 Advertisements red Guest On Feb 12, 9:50 am, Florian Doyon <> wrote: > Hello, > > I am having issues with a .net 2.0 service randomly crashing on an 8 > way machine running a 32bit .net server 2k3. > > The event log contains an entry indicating that there's a fault in > mscorwks.dll, no stack trace attached, no dump, no drWatson, nothing. > > I just configured the system to take a crash dump, but the mean time > to failure being 32 hours, I'd like to know where to look for my crash > before it occurs again (joys of random production issues). > > The app uses a 3rd party mixed-mode dll, and relies heavily on > multithreading and async I/O, so there are too many area where it may > crash. > > I did notice on thing in the two eventlog entries I got, is that the > faulting addresses are always the same.
