It is a C# winforms application communicating with a COM exe. Randomly either the winforms app or the COM exe crashes without any error message and the event log contains this entry: [1958] .NET Runtime Type: ERROR Computer: CWP-OSL029-01 Time: 11/25/2008 3:14:10 PM ID: 1023 .NET Runtime version 2.0.50727.1433 - Fatal Execution Engine Error (79FFEE24) (80131506) I could not find any useful information on the MS sites. Does anybody have an idea where I should start my investigation? tia c# com clr share|improve this question asked Dec 2 '08 at 17:05 Karl 115118 Okay, we've had enough "MEE TOOOO" answers to this question. –Will Jul 27 '10 at 16:57 I encountered this error 80131506 (cor_e_executionengine), while using OllyDbg on my debug .NET executable. Just mentioned for info :P –Dominik Antal May 13 '12 at 14:06 add a comment| 7 Answers 7 active oldest votes up vote 0 down vote accepted I had this error, it (luckily) went away by installing 3.5 SP1, which bumps your runtime to version 2.0.50727.3053 (this is a nice version summary). While hunting for solutions I found a wild range of suspects for this error. Some people even claimed it was the antivirus (!) YMMV, good luck. share|improve this answer answered Dec 2 '08 at 17:45 Mauricio Scheffer 80.8k14159242 4 This did not work for me. –Clarence Klopfstein Apr 26 '10 at 14:44 add a comment| up vote 6 down vote Microsoft released a hotfix https://connect.microsoft.com/VisualStudio/Downloads/DownloadDetails.aspx?DownloadID=16827&wa=wsignin1.0 share|improve this answer answered Mar 19 '09 at 18:42 Jakub Konecki 1 this hotfix worked for me, in my case VS crashed when i opened any project under mercurial scc, possible source was the HgSccPackage –marc.d A

we're getting on W2K3 sp2 IIS 6.0 with a .Net 2.0 application ... First, this message will appear in the System Event Log: "A process serving application pool 'DefaultApp' suffered a fatal communication error with the World Wide Web Publishing Service. The process id was '2732'. The data field contains the error number." Followed by these errors in the Application Event Log: "Faulting application w3wp.exe, version 6.0.3790.3959, stamp 45d691cc, faulting module ntdll.dll, version 5.2.3790.3959, stamp 45d6cc72, debug? 0, fault address 0x00000000000307e2." And ".NET Runtime version 2.0.50727.1433 - Fatal Execution Engine Error (000006427F8A5DC8) (80131506)" Through 2 days of googling and searching, I was able to find a lot of threads/posts about this but none ever came back to say this or that was the problem. I know we have to gather logs and analyze them to find the root cause, but can someone at least shed light on some non-coding-related items that can cause these errors? Is it because of a faulty installation of IIS perhaps? Or corruption of the w3wp.exe files? Or will these errors be strictly something to do with the application code running on IIS? I guess I'm trying to narrow the scope of my troubleshooting efforts to the IIS itself or to the code base. Any insight or suggestions are appreciated. Then you will know which one is failing, which will lad you to the right place to start. Cheers. Comments See a
