An EMM reason string that appears in the Activity Monitor job details display and in the nbjm debug log netbackup nbrmms accompanies this status code. The EMM reason string identifies the reason for the failed resource request. Recommended action: Locate the EMM reason string, correct the problem, and rerun the job. Some generic EMM reason strings (such as "Disk volume is down") may require generating some reports to determine the cause of the failure. You can generate the report by means of either bperror or the various log entry reports, such as Reports > Disk Reports > Disk Logs in the Administration Console. Error Message Info 3860072 BackStat (no storage units available for use) Error 3860072 Backup backup of client xxxxxxx exited with status 213 (no storage units available for use) Status 800, Resource request failed, disk volume is down Status 84, media write failed Cause The NBU Disk Polling Service (DPS), which is responsible for telling NBU whether a disk pool / disk volume is up, polls for information from the storage server via bpstsinfo. However, DPS by default has a 1 minute timeout limit. So if it does not get a reply back within a minute, it automatically treats it as an error on the disk pool / disk volumes and will mark it as down. Solution Increase the DPS Polling Timeout window --------------------------

Disk volume is down resource request failed (800) Next message: [Veritas-bu] Error nbjm NBU status: 800, EMM status: Disk volume is down resource request failed (800) Messages sorted by: [ date ] [ thread ] [ subject ] [ author ] Not quite the same. 800 is fairly generic so you have to look at the specific reason code ("Disk volume is down" in my case) to troubleshoot. Unfortunately I can't find much that talks about this and what little that does isn't really telling me whether it is complaining about a source disk volume (i.e. The Exchange servers' Information Store) or the target disk (i.e. the Data Domain CIFS mount on the media server). Troubleshooting suggests running disk logs report. Running it for the media server at the time of the failure of one of the jobs produces "no entity" but running default produces 3 events like the following this morning BEFORE that time. Unfortunately I'm not real sure what this means: Fri Nov 14 04:46:03 EST 2008 atmbks01 0 Warning Volume NT_atmbks01_atldd02:Internal_16 monitored by atmbks01 is down S{cl-2060017} atmbks01 = Windows Media Server atldd02 = Data Domain NT_atmbks01_atldd02= Defined storage unit for when using this Data Domain on this Media Server Not sure what the "Internal_16" means. Anyone have a clue? Device monitor only shows me tape drives. FYI: This is all NBU 6.5.1 - Master is HP-UX but backup is run via the Windows media server noted above. ________________________________ From: veritas-bu-bounces at mailman.eng.auburn.edu [mailto:veritas-bu-bounces at mailman.eng.auburn.edu] On Behalf Of judy_hinchcliffe at administaff.com Sent: Friday, November 14, 2008 10:54 AM To: VERITAS-BU at mailman.eng.auburn.edu Subject: Re: [Veritas-bu] Error nbjm NBU status: 800,EMM status: Disk volume is down resource request failed (800) Wow.... I have been working on 800's and had a bunch last night. Don't know if this the same but let me tell you what I know. I had a bunch of jobs work if the master/media server did them Anything done by my other media server or my san media server failed with 800 They are trying to tell me it is because I have the san disk drives on my master server on the same FC card as my san tape d
