After moving 286GB suddenly I got that error message( See Attachment ). FYI I mounted /dev/sda1 partition after starting moving process. May be this is the cause of the error. I have noticed another thing, If I clicked on Retry/Cancel/Ignore button on the error message, progress bar of the moving process grows 0.01GB. That means to finish this process I have to click more thousands of clicks!! I also worried about my files. So, Is there any way to safely complete this proces

What Filesystem/Partition Scheme did you choose during the installation? –aatdark Sep 15 '10 at 16:44 i just used the erase and use the entire disk option. –sukrit Sep 15 '10 at 17:32 Have your checked your media?. If you hit SHIFT (or ESC, I don't really recall right now and can't test) while booting the installer will show you a menu with more options. There is one to check the install media there. –Javier Rivera Sep 15 '10 at 17:34 pressing shift or esc did not have any effect. i even tried the partition, having 60 gb hard disk gave 52 gb to ext4 and rest to swap area, still getting the same error.. –sukrit Sep 15 '10 at 18:27 @sukrit Please update your question with all the information you're putting in the comments so that they are all summarized in on

I just built a brand-new computer will all new parts. It works fine, but my hard drive does not seem to work. I tried another hard drive (from my alternate laptop) and it worked fine, but this hard drive is recognized output error during by Ubuntu, but cannot be read or written to by Ubuntu. I tried to follow the other question mentioned earlier (although most of the answers were 'replace your hard drive') and ran the SMART tool. I was able to run it without any errors, but then it says that the "Self-Test Failed". Does that refer to not being able to successfully run the check, or does it mean that the hard drive did not pass it? Anyways, here are my specs: AMD A6-6400K processor 8GB of RAM 1 TB WD Blue desktop hard drive FM2A58M-VG3+ R2.0 ASRock motherboard I have already done the following: Tried using multiple disk checks Moving the SATA cables around Just to be clear, because I can't install anything on the disk, I cannot install any third-party programs. However, a SMART test is usually something that the drive performs itself, so if it fails a "self check" that is ini
