The material is not copyrighted, and neither is the disc.I've done this a lot before, using the same brand of http://askubuntu.com/questions/509695/cp-fails-to-copy-with-errors-cp-error-reading-file-input-output-error-and DVD-R media (Sony) and the same DVD recorder (Samsung). After recording and finalizing the DVD, I insert the DVD in my Powerbook and open Disk Utility. Then choose the disc from the sidebar menu output error and choose File > New > Disk Image from disk1. Then save the disk image to the Desktop and choose CD/DVD master, no encryption. It starts to make the disk image and then close to the end of the process, I get this error message: unable to create "disk1.cdr" - input/output errorAnd there is no resulting disk image.Any ideas about why this isn't working anymore?I had to change the input output error format of my Powerbook DVD player from NTSC to PAL to view a PAL disc. Then I changed it back to NTSC. And now I'm playing NTSC DVDs just fine with the player. I'm trying to copy an NTSC DVD. Did changing the region of my DVD player back and forth somehow break the create disk image capability?PowerBook G4 17"1.33 GHz processor2 GB RAMMac OS X 10.4.9Disk Utility Version 10.5.6 (198.12)massachiMessage was edited by: massachi PowerBook G4 1.33 GHz (17-inch), Mac OS X (10.4.9) Posted on Oct 15, 2007 10:46 AM I have this question too Close Q: Input/Output Error in Disk Utility All replies Helpful answers by Carolyn Samit, Carolyn Samit Oct 15, 2007 10:51 AM in response to massachi Level 10 (123,376 points) Apple Music Oct 15, 2007 10:51 AM in response to massachi HI Mass,Not sure whether this is an incompatibility issue but I just found some really good information here that might shed some light on the problem. http://www.michaeldvd.com.au/Articles/PALvsNTSC/PALvsNTSC.aspMay not solve the problem but it might get you going in the right direction ...Also, anytime you change a format on say your PBook DVD Player, always run Disk Utility and Repair Disk Permissions. It's in your Applications/Utilities folder. It sure can't

And I used to copy vdi files as a kind of backup. Previously I did this (copying vdi file and then copying it back) many times without any problem. But today I experienced this error VirtualBox VMs/win_7$ cp ../../Bkps/win_7.vdi . cp: error reading ‘../../Bkps/win_7.vdi’: Input/output error cp: failed to extend ‘./win_7.vdi’: Input/output error I googled for this a little but from the advices on similar problems I undersood nothing unfortunately. Could anyone suggest how to solve this, please?
