virre » Tue Jul 21, 2015 10:27 pm So yesterday I had a power outtake, when the power was back on bash sbin reboot input output error my Pi didn't behave as it should. First startup after the linux input output error power loss it didn't connect to my Internet so I checked the network configure file, and it was linux bash: input/output error good and I restarted it and it came back on the Internet. It operates normal BUT every time I login to the system I get this message saying somethings input/output error kali linux is not right:Code: Select allLinux raspi 3.18.11-v7+ #781 SMP PREEMPT Tue Apr 21 18:07:59 BST 2015 armv7l

What I can tell from the message it's something wrong with bash?I have not found something about this type of
-bash: /root/.bash_profile: Input/output Error
message on the Internet. I've searched Google without luck. It only appears one time at login. How do I fix it? Usually fixes network problems right away. Maybe it will hereGood luck Raspberry Pi 2 BRasbian OSNo mods whatsoeverMacPro3,1MacOSX 10.8.516GB RAM 2TB iPad Air 2iOS 8.316GB Posts: 20Joined: Thu Jul 16, 2015 11:55 pmLocation: Fullerton, CA YIM by rpdom » Wed Jul 22, 2015 7:46 am Code: Select all-bash: /etc/bash_completion.d/gem1.9.1: Input/output error
That says that bash has got an error while processing the file /etc/bash_completion.d/gem1.9.1Input/output error is not good. It could be that your SD card has become corrupted when the power failed (some of them are quite bad at that). It might be a good idea to replace the card.

Reboot Input/output Error
deal with " Input/output error " when you initiate any commands in reading directory input output error linux Linux. I have pointed some examples that reports similar error. # du -bash: /usr/bin/du: Input/output error #mkdir sampledir .bashrc input output error mkdir: cannot create directory `sampledir': Input/output error Input/output error while running the command mostly due to two reason. Either it could be bad blocks on the disk or someone hacked your https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=116272&p=792205 machine. In this situation first suggestion would be to check /var/log/messages for any disk related alerts (might see some sense key alerts). tail -n 100 /var/log/messages tail -f /var/log/messages If you notice any disk issues , try any disk utility to confirm this. One option would be use smarttools. You can check smartool option to fix bad blocks. If you already http://linoxide.com/how-tos/inputoutput-error-bad-blocks-how-to-restart-linux/ installed it you can take the advantage of that. Next immediate action would be take backup of your system. Good if you already have it :-). If you have good backup its safe to reboot. If your system was hacked there are chances they might messed up your file and system would not work after reboot. You can also try fsck but it really dont fix most time if it bad block issue. Fsck can fix only if it related to any filesystem related issues. Usually fsck will fail in between as when it try to read the file at bad block. Now if try to reboot , it can also give the same output. You can try init 6. # reboot bash: /sbin/reboot: Input/output error # shutdown -r now bash: /sbin/shutdown: Input/output error If the above reboot commands doesnot work try either forced reboot or shutdown . Forced Reboot echo 1 > /proc/sys/kernel/sysrq echo b > /proc/sysrq-trigger Forced Shutdown echo 1 > /proc/sys/kernel/sysrq echo o > /proc/sysrq-trigger You might also likeHow To Fix / Repair Bad Blocks In LinuxHow To Backup
