Thanx for the suggestion dude, but I tried it numerous times it dint work, It is actually under warranty but I dont wanna get it exchanged as The data inside is too crucial, Is there a way around? with prior to upgrading to 10.5.5 and trying to setup the drive to be compatible with Time Machine.The hard prosoft data rescue drive enclosure that I have has 2 bays for two SATA drives. I formatted them using Drive Genius. I used the option for GUILD or GUIL which it said was the better format for using with Time Machine.The first problem I ran into since upgrading and reformatting the drives is I got an "input/output" error the first couple times I connected the drive via https://discussions.apple.com/thread/1803613?tstart=0 USB to my Mac. I could still use the drives but I got weird errors every once in a while like "input/output error" or "device was not ejected properly" even though the device had not been unplugged. Now the drives will not mount using OS 10.5.5. The drives show up when I open Disk Utility, but I cannot get them to mount. I have ran Disk Utility First Aid, and it says the drives are fine. There is one error that shows up when I run the "Repair Disk" feature. It reads "Invalid content in Journal". But Disk Utility also says "The volume was repaired successfully".I have seen some posts when I do a search in google about this issue and it seems this is a known issue. Every suggestion I see says to insert your Tiger DVD and reformat the drive using that and the problem will be solved. The only problem with that is I have a lot of important files on the drive that I cannot lose. I had the files backed up until I moved them to the new drive a while back. No

When output error I open the External drive in Finder, It shows it's empty. When I use the option to "Get Info", I get the dialog box stating it has about 300GB Free. I tried to access External Drive using Terminal, but I had no luck. Checking in Disk Utility, It showed that I have many number of files but ZERO folders. I tried to "repair disk", in the process the external Drive got unmounted in the process. I checked this drive on Windows. I was able to open input output error almost all the folders but I wasn't able to copy anything onto the external drive. One folder caused my windows computer to freeze. Then I connected the drive back onto my MacBook Pro and tried to access the drive through terminal (this time it worked!) and then I tried to delete a folder with rm command, I got an "input/output error". I tried to enter in to the folder with "cd" command but my terminal got frozen. What should i do to recover the files in that folder? The first thing you should do is run chkdsk on the drive from a Windows system to correct any errors with the NTFS file system. If you still have trouble, I suspect that there's little you can do. As for mounting it on the Mac, understand that OS X mounts NTFS file systems in read-only mode. As such, you'll be able to copy important data off of the drive, but you won't be able to update it or write new data to it. Repairing the drive in Disk Utility might work, but I ad

The Fedora20 box has the same RPMs installed.I have the Seagate Diagnostic tools installed on my Windows7 box and it passes every single diagnostic test.I have even zero'd the thing out, reformatted NTFS and still no luck. I had previously installed the ntfs fuse driver via rpmforge (naughty me) and I ended up having to remove it, disable rpmforge and install all the nfs stuff from elrepo - then it worked fine. I think the rpmforge fuse driver was "marked" as a later version than the EPEL one, so yum installed that everytime until I disabled rpmforge. Exact same symptoms (I/O error).But if you're 100% sure you got it from EPEL, then tha's a different story.
