Do you have backups? You can buy a new internal from a number of sources - OWC, Crucial, MacMall, etc., and also buy an enclosure for your dead drive if you hope to try to get any data off of it.Please tell me you have a backup to two.Clinton Helpful (0) Reply options Link to this post by RSKC, RSKC Oct 28, 2012 5:45 AM in response to clintonfrombirmingham Level 1 (0 points) Oct 28, https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4473344?start=0&tstart=0 2012 5:45 AM in response to clintonfrombirmingham No that the huge problem I have a backup of only my work material but no photos or music >_ communities company blog Stack Exchange Inbox Reputation and Badges sign up log in tour help Tour Start here for a quick overview of the site Help Center Detailed answers to any questions you might have Meta Discuss the workings and policies of this site About Us Learn more about Stack Overflow http://askubuntu.com/questions/509695/cp-fails-to-copy-with-errors-cp-error-reading-file-input-output-error-and the company Business Learn more about hiring developers or posting ads with us Ask Ubuntu Questions Tags Users Badges Unanswered Ask Question _ Ask Ubuntu is a question and answer site for Ubuntu users and developers. http://www.centos.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=53634 Join them; it only takes a minute: Sign up Here's how it works: Anybody can ask a question Anybody can answer The best answers are voted up and rise to the top cp fails to copy with output error errors “cp: error reading 'file': Input/output error” and "cp: failed to extend 'file': Input/output error up vote 2 down vote favorite I'm a user of Oracle Virtualbox on Ubuntu. And I used to copy vdi files as a kind of backup. Previously I did this (copying vdi file and then copying it back) many times without any problem. But today I experienced this error VirtualBox VMs/win_7$ cp ../../Bkps/win_7.vdi . cp: error reading ‘../../Bkps/win_7.vdi’: Input/output input output error error cp: failed to extend ‘./win_7.vdi’: Input/output error I googled for this a little but from the advices on similar problems I undersood nothing unfortunately. Could anyone suggest how to solve this, please?
