And I cp cannot stat input/output error used to copy vdi files as a kind of backup. Previously I did this (copying vdi file and then copying it back) many times without any problem. But today I experienced this error VirtualBox VMs/win_7$ cp ../../Bkps/win_7.vdi . cp: error reading ‘../../Bkps/win_7.vdi’: Input/output error cp: failed to extend ‘./win_7.vdi’: Input/output error I googled for this a little but from the advices on similar problems I undersood nothing unfortunately. Could anyone suggest how to solve this, please? Please have a look in the log you get with acdcli -d mount -fg acd and see if it's doing non-sequential writes. thrnz commented Nov 3, 2015 Did you create the encfs with 'standard' settings? I encountered this issue when using one of the non-standard options (I can't recall which - possibly 'Message Authentication Code block headers' or 'External IV Chaining'), and using the pre-defined 'standard' profi

After moving 286GB suddenly I got that error message( See Attachment ). FYI I mounted /dev/sda1 partition after starting moving process. May be this is the cause of the error. I have noticed another thing, If I clicked on Retry/Cancel/Ignore button on the error message, progress bar of the moving process grows 0.01GB. That means to finish this process I have to click more thousands of clicks!! I also worried about my files. So, Is there any way to safely complete this process or safely terminate this process, so that I can keep my files / data safe? I backed up most of my personal files to this drive before switching from XP. I can read and write from the drive without an problems at all in Vista. In Linux, I can also read and write to/from the drive without any problems after it auto-mounts. However, when I attempt to copy large files/folder from it, partway through the process it fails with an Input/Output error. When I attempt to access a location on the drive with Nautilus (after the error) it also gives me an Input/Output error. My device no longer appears in /media, but it remains mounted (and its icon remains on my desktop). I can remove it with sudo umount /media/SimpleDrive despite the fact that Nautilus shows no such location. After unmounting, if I unplug the drive and plug it back in it automounts to /media/SimpleDrive_. I can copy about 800 MB per mount (though it varies considerably), but this makes it quite pain
