On the client output error systems they are mounted like so: storage-00:/rcpool/frozone/projects on /projects type nfs (rw,rsize=32768,wsize=32768,tcp,nfsvers=3,soft,intr,bg,addr=10.65.1.0) storage-00:/testing on /mnt/storage-00/testing-ext4 type nfs (rw,rsize=32768,wsize=32768,soft,intr,tcp,nfsvers=3,addr=10.65.1.0) storage-00 is my NFS server. If I leave these mounts alone for some amount of time, usually a few minutes, then try to input output error access them I get an error: [root@frozone mnt]$ ls /mnt/storage-00/testing-ext4 ls: cannot access /mnt/storage-00/testing-ext4: Input/output error [root@frozone mnt]$ ls /projects ls: cannot access /projects: Input/output error However, if I attempt to access them a lot, they will sometimes eventually work. After mounting/umounting several filesystems the mounts eventually stop working and no further mounts can be made, they fail with: [root@frozone mnt]$ mount -v storage-01:/rcpool/testing storage-01/testing-zfs/ -o rw,rsize=32768,wsize=32768,soft,intr,tcp,nfsvers=3 -t nfs mount.nfs: timeout set for Tue Jan 21 15:43:50 2014 mount.nfs: trying text-based options 'rsize=32768,wsize=32768,soft,intr,tcp,nfsvers=3,addr=10.65.1.1' mount.nfs: prog 100003, trying vers=3, prot=6 mount.nfs: trying 10.65.1.1 prog 100003 vers 3 prot TCP port 2049 mount.nfs: prog 100005, trying vers=3, prot=6 mount.nfs: trying 10.65.1.1 prog 100005 vers 3 prot TCP port 57087 mount.nfs: mount(2): Input/output error mount.n

I have always had the following line in /etc/fstab: Code: 192.168.0.30:/shares/SimplePool/Storage /home/brian/Storage nfs rw,auto,rsize=8192,wsize=8192,intr,soft,retry=5 0 0 That, along with having Code: nfs-common installed, has always worked great for accessing my remote NFS server. Unfortunately Ubuntu 10.04 (Lucid) isn't cooperating. If I try to manually mount /home/brian/Storage it will hang. I ran the following equivalent command to debug: Code: sudo mount -v -t nfs -o rw,auto,rsize=8192,wsize=8192,intr,soft,retry=5 192.168.0.30:/shares/SimplePool/Storage /home/brian/Storage And the result was: Code: mount.nfs: timeout set for Thu May 6 10:01:01 2010 mount.nfs: text-based opt
