43 posts Posted 08 July 2012 - 04:40 AM I've read countless posts on this forum and am at a loss for what we have going on. Seems like many have this problem and each one is a slightly different fix.I'll refer to this as SR1 in my post.3256.6GB used of 3256.8GB total (1826.2GB allocated)The used space seemed to creep up unbeknownst to us after a few issues and I'll dd conv=noerror try to explain briefly. We use PHD Virtual for backups. One day I suddenly had a few VM's hang.. one common denominator I noticed was that they were all on the same SR (I'll refer to it as SR2 in this post). I had to force reboot and they came back up. Nothing in any of the logs.A couple days later, bam... one of the VM's crashed and reported some crazy disk errors on the Windows guest VM. So, I moved them all over to SR1 (SR2 now empty) and the problem happened several days later. Well after some digging, I noticed that on one of my 3 hosts (where the problem occured) I only had 3 of 3 iSCSI paths listed, whereas on my other 2 hosts I had 4 of 4.I check our Dell MD3220i log and each time it happened it had done a failover to the secondary controller. For what reason I don't know yet, but it's done it MANY times and so today I've updated to the recent firmware. It had been seamless in the past when all paths were available. So after I placed that host into maint mode to figure out what is going on, a couple days later every single bac

To check sda1 volume for bad sectors in Linux run fsck -c /dev/sda1. For drive C: in Windows it should be chkdsk c: /f /r. IMHO chkdsk way will be more suitable as it will remap bad blocks on the HDD while Linux fsck simply marks such blocks as unusable in the current file system. Quote from man fsck.ext2 -c This option causes e2fsck to use badblocks(8) program to do a read-only scan of the device in order to find any bad blocks. If any bad blocks are found, they are added to the bad block inode to prevent them from being allocated to a file or directory. If this option is specified twice, then the bad block scan will be done using a non-destructive read-write test share|improve this answer edited Nov 14 '15 at 7:41 David Foerster 10.8k93052 answered Oct 13 '11 at 21:09 Sergey 1,018814 I format my installation USB to low level from windows, re-mount the iso and it works... my hdd works great but this USB pendrive not.
