This errors usually happens because the spindle(The thing that spins the DVD), isn't moving properly. You can try this to see if that will fix it:1) Eject the tray, and unplug the unit with the tray out2) Remove the case3) Locate the spindle, and spin it gently a few times4) Put the cover back on and see if that fixes the issueIf that doesn't fix it, then the http://www.justanswer.com/electronics/2p5my-panasonic-dvd-model-rv31-ho2-error-do.html spindle will need to be replacedLet me know if you need any more help with it. Ask Your Own Consumer Electronics Question Customer: replied7 years ago. Is the HO2 error definitely the spindle? We saw the info you provided in Google results. But also noted that people disagree about whether HO2 is spindle or optical reader. If you are sure this is the reason and solution for the HO2 code, then it's helpful. So far, we cannot get the case/cover off. We are assuming this means removal of the two large screws on the sides (plus more on back?). The screws on the sides are in very tightly, and only one of our tiniest screwdrivers fits them. Even my husband cannot get any of the screws to turn. Is there a trick to their removal? Thanks. Expert: Simit replied7 years ago. Yes, there are some people saying it is the optics. But it rarely turns out to be the optics when that error message is shown. If you turn the DVD player on, and you can hear the disc spinning, then that would mean that the spindle is working. But if it doesn't spin up, then it might just need a little nudge. As far as opening it,

Expert 215 Answers Re: DVD not playing message say H02 There is a solution but it takes a little care because the wrong thing touched will give you a shock. Just stay away from the unit near where the power lead enters the unit. OK. remove the top of the unit, place a disk in the unit press play and gently give the DVD a gentle push in a clockwise direction. This disk should then get up to speed and start playing. It also unlocks the error. No guarantees with this one some work, some don't. I hope yours does. Now all of the sudden when I put ANYTHING in it, it displays an HO2 error and won't load anything. I have a Panasonic DVD-RV31. The only info I have found on this looking on the net is that some guy opened his player up and spun a plastic disc while he loaded a DVD into it and that fixed it. Anyone got anything better? __________________ "It's almost like I'm wearing nothing at all.... nothing at all.... nothing at all...." -Ned Flanders Check out Castle Larkshire! 09-19-02, 06:12 PM #2 Blade Uber Member Join Date: Mar 1999 Location: Overlooking Pearl Harbor Posts: 16,232 Doesn't sound good: http://www.dvdtalk.com/forum/showthr...hreadid=222998 __________________ -David My DVDs and HT 09-20-02, 12:14 AM #3 gcribbs DVD Talk Legend Join Date: Aug 1999 Location: Sacramento,Ca,USA member #2634 Posts: 11,936 sounds like it died you could try the ole unplug it for a bit and replug it back in(wait a day) personally I doubt it will work but why not try it. otherwise you will either need to get it repaired or buy a new one. strange my old RCA 5200 is a rebadged panasonic A100 and it is still ticking away at my mother's but this mod
