damaged. Your are trying to restore a backup (*.QBB extension) from a network drive. Your backup file name (including the path) exceeds the limit of 210 characters. How to fix it Important: Ensure that your QuickBooks is up to date before you follow the steps shown below. 1. If your issue is with your backup (filename.qbb). Restore backup to a new location Note: Use this solution only if you experienced the error with a backup file (*.QBB extension). If your backup is on a network drive or is hosted by QuickBooks Online Backup, save a copy to your local computer. Be sure your computer is not hosting. From the QuickBooks File menu, choose Utilities. If Stop Hosting Multi-User Access is listed: Select the Stop Hosting Multi-User Access option. In the Stop hosting multi-user access window, click Yes. In the Company file must be closed window, click Yes. Restore the backup saved on your computer. You can try to restore another backup if one is available. Important: If you turned off hosting on your computer to restore your backup, use steps a and b to turn it back on. Hosting enables other users to access your company file in multi-user mode. If the error persists, make sure the path to your company file is no more than 210 characters long. For example, C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\Intuit\QuickBooks\Sample Company Files\QuickBooks 2010\Sample_company_file.qbw is 124 characters including spaces. (Optional) If the error persists, send your company file to our Data Recovery Team. To request data recovery service from Intuit Data Services, contact QuickBooks Technical Support. How can the Windows Xp Computers access the file, yet the Windows 7 cannot? The only windows 7 computer to access the file is the host computer.
