This is mainly to allow input for scripts without changing the document at the same time. Error 4xx, 5xx The 4xx codes are intended for cases in which the client seems to have erred, and the 5xx codes for the cases in which the server is aware that the server has erred. It is impossible to distinguish these cases in general, so the difference is only informational. The body section may contain a document describing the error in human readable form. Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) response status codes. It includes codes from IETF internet standards, other IETF RFCs, http 403 other specifications, and some additional commonly used codes. The first digit of the status code specifies one of five classes of response; an HTTP client must recognise https://www.w3.org/Protocols/HTTP/HTRESP.html these five classes at a minimum. The phrases used are the standard wordings, but any human-readable alternative can be provided. Unless otherwise stated, the status code is part of the HTTP/1.1 standard (RFC 7231).[1] The Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA) maintains the official registry of HTTP status codes.[2] Microsoft IIS sometimes uses additional decimal sub-codes https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_HTTP_status_codes to provide more specific information,[3] but not all of those are here (note that these sub-codes only appear in the response payload and in documentation; not in the place of an actual HTTP status code). This class of status code indicates a provisional response, consisting only of the Status-Line and optional headers, and is terminated by an empty line. Since HTTP/1.0 did not define any 1xx status codes, servers must not[note 1] send a 1xx response to an HTTP/1.0 client except under experimental conditions.[4] 100 Continue The server has received the request headers and the client should proceed to send the request body (in the case of a request for which a body needs to be s

Are you sure that did not say 500? –Daniel Roseman Dec 29 '14 at 13:24 i found that its a web-faction related error only. –silverkid Dec 29 '14 at 15:13 add a comment| 2 Answers 2 active oldest votes up vote 2 down vote accepted Did you set DEBUG=False in your settings? If so, you must add a SECRET_KEY value and ALLOWED_HOSTS setting. Check the Django docs for more info about these settings. Apart from that, the logs at ~/log/user/error_yourapp.log is what you need to check. However, a 200 error is not a server error (500), and therefore might not end up in that error log, if I am not mistaken.

The Importance of HTTP Status CodesSo, why is it important to understand HTTP status codes? If you can tell them apart, then you will be able to control your Web server with a higher degree of accuracy and effectiveness.
