you can format the drive as NTFS, and use an NTFS mounter for Mac OS X to try and write to the drive, however NTFS is not officially supported by Apple and you may run into some problems when writing data to the destination device. You're much better off using a FAT file system if you want true Mac and Windows compatibility with a drive, and as long as you avoid enormous files or copy them directly between a Mac and PC - and not the intermediary disk drive - you won't see those Error Code 0 messages in the Finder when trying to copy anything. Following description appears along with the error message: Error 0: "The operation can't be completed because an unexpected error occurred. (Error code 0)" Do following steps until your problem is fixed:1. Format the External Drive with "Mac OS Extended" Type2. Split Large Files into Several Parts3. Delete Preferences File Tip: Error Code 0 in Mac? Download Repair tool Format the External Drive with "Mac OS Extended" TypeI assume your external drive is formatted with FAT, FAT32 or NTFS format. Many people nowadays prefer to format their USB Flash Drives, External Hard Drives with these format types.These format types are not much compatible with Mac OS and other Non-Windows operating systems. They do have problems writing the files, although reading files is not an issue. That is why you receive error code 0 in Mac. Format your drive with "Mac OS Extended" type to resolve the problem.1. Open Disk Utility.2. A list of all drives shall appear on the left side of your screen.3. Select your external drive, click the Erase tab.4. Select the Mac OS Extended (Journalised) option under Volume Format drop down box.5. Specify a name for your drive and then click Erase button.6.
