I tried removing the IMEX=1 part, but it still didn't work. I have no idea why this is happening. share|improve this answer answered Feb 14 '13 at 7:32 petko_stankoski 3,5451886141 1 Your application needs to be able to open the file with administrator permissions. You probably moved the file to a folder where your application had that level of access. –Ryan Kohn Jul 23 '14 at 13:59 I got this exception. And when I moved my excel file to a different folder, it worked. System.Data.OleDb.OleDbException. I have set Run64BitRuntime = false. I have tried to process several .xls files unexpected error that have one worksheet. But I get an "unexpected error from external database driver (22)" message from them. When I use the original worksheet tab name (for example, POS Report-XXXX BRANDS-YYYYYYY), I get the error. But if I rename the worksheet tab something simple like "TEST" I don't get the error. Is there a way around this other than manually renaming the tab for each .xls file? Try moving the database file to another computer will Access on it. If you can get it to work there, then the problem is with your computer's install of Office or Access. If it's still acting up at the other computer, then it could be a corrupt database file. -- Jerry Whittle Light. Strong. Cheap. Pick two. Keith Bontrager - Bicycle Builder.
