What else could be the cause of the issue? In my case it seems like a timeout... I've already set EnableThrottling to false, but this hasn't helped. Changes to your data cannot be saved” in Excel (data does not load). I am using IE 9 and MCAffee AV on the client side. Sharepoint Version is 2010 FoundationNot sure whether the issue is related to the AV however. Could it be some timeout setting that I need to modify? Maybe a setting in Sharepoint? Thanks! excel export share|improve this question asked Aug http://sharepoint.stackexchange.com/questions/43819/export-to-excel-large-lists 21 '12 at 8:23 Joseph Caruana 2111312 add a comment| 4 Answers 4 active oldest votes up vote 4 down vote Here is a trick I've tried in your situation: Change your view in SharePoint to only display like Maximum 1000 rows. (use the Limit in the bottom of the view definition screen) Attempt again to export to Excel - this should work without issues (if it doesn't the problem lies elsewhere in your SharePoint and then you should have a look in ULS) Change back the View to show all items or those you need. Use the Refresh All in Excel to get latest updates from your View share|improve this answer answered Aug 21 '12 at 8:32 Marius Constantinescu - MVP 12.4k725 Thanks - it is a good workaround (but not really a solution) +1 –Joseph Caruana Aug 21 '12 at 9:32 1 It might actually not exist a proper solution for that amount of data. I've search for alternatives myself at the time, besides you only need to do the trick once per list, then Excel would be able to work properly. You cannot rely on Excel services neither as you have SPF. –Marius Constantinescu - MVP Aug 21 '12 at 10:48 Thanks for your reply. Yes, it could do since it only needs to be done once. I will do some other research myself and let you know the outcome. –Joseph

"An unexpected error hasoccurred" February 13, an unexpected error 2012 Neil King Leave a comment Go to comments I was recently asked to look at an Excel Services problem, where rather then a spreadsheet opening in the browser we were getting the ever helpful “An unexpected error has occurred” screen. Checking in CA the Excel Services service application seemed to be provisioned, the settings seemed okay and the service was running, a quick check in Windows event log soon found the problem The service application was not registered with the default web application. As soon as we set the association, Excel Services sprang into life Rate this:EmailTweetPocketMoreShare on TumblrPrintLike this:Like Loading... I come across so many issues on day 2 day basis and always try to share with all of you as soon as the issue gets resolved. Today, We have received one support ticket in which the user has created a list which consist of few items. When he selects list Actions--Export to spreadsheet--Excel opens up and Displays 'Security' dialog box by giving the option of 'ENABLE' and 'DISABLE'. When user selects the Enable button then 'Import Data' dialog comes up, and then user clicks OK. As soon as the OK action performs then suddenly it throws an error message: Excel Cannot Connect to SharePoint List Resolution: Generally we start our troubleshooting from the SharePoint side as what is wrong with my SharePoint site, Is there any problem in the SharePoint list, Does the Office which is installed on the machine is causing the problem? Is there any site collection feature turned off? Is there any problem in the SP-Database? Problem with the IIS? so things are there by which we can think off but don't waste your time in doing all these things as I have done all these things and the resolution is quite simple which you can implement without any help. 1) Open the Internet Explorer 2) Tools 3) Internet Options 4) Advanced Settings 5) Scroll downwards and reach towards the section named as "Security" 6) CHECK FOR SERVER CERTIFICATE REVOCATION--which is by default checked 7) Unchecked it 8) Apply and Ok 9) Close all the internet explorers (IE) and open your SharePoint site in a new IE i.e. Browser/Explorer You should be able to export the spreadsheet without any problems/issues. Please let me know in case of any further queries/questions. I would be more than HAPPY to help you as well as RESOLVES your issues, Thank you.
