I ran the chkdsk /R command on an external WD 1TB hardrive connected via SATA. Here is the output log from chkdsk from event viewer. Not sure what the error message means? When I connect it to another pc running win 8.1 three drives show up for the external. For each one I get the error message "X:/ is not accessible. Data error (cyclic redundancy check)." If however these are ok, then there's an outside possibility of recovering data from it- even rebuilding the partition structure. The first depends on whether you need to do it- whether you've backups- the second sounds a bit optimistic (you'd need an appropriate program). Question is, can you sacrifice the disk
