I also tried the System Update Readiness Tool then tried reinstalling SP1; however, it still failed with the same error code. The CBS log files are attached. Any help would be appreciated. I would just reinstall the OS; however, the computer is a laptop with a broken primary monitor and I'm not able to run https://www.sysnative.com/forums/windows-update/5401-windows-7-will-not-update-sp1-0x800b0100.html the HP recover utility without a working built in monitor. I know that it doesn't list your error code, but I am saying that it is relevant in this particular case. Basically, it will perform several fixes, and one of them applies to your situation. It is just easier to run a neat, automated tool, rather than having to fix it manually. Once you have run it, please re-start your computer, re-run Windows Update, and let me know whether that resolves your problem. Thank you, and good luck! Richard tom982 says thanks for this.
