– Free Productivity Pack Resume Select Page Fixing Windows 10 Update Error 0x800705b4 by Yasaf Burshan | Oct 2, 2015 | Windows | 146 comments So today https://www.thegeneralistit.com/blog/2015/10/02/fixing-windows-10-update-error-0x800705b4/ I installed a new laptop for my niece. Fresh copy of windows 10 (home edition) on a Dell Inspiron 5558. Installation was successful, so I went ahead and installed her copy of Office 2013. The next step was, obviously, checking for updates to make sure everything is up to date before wrapping it all up. That's what I thought update error anyway, soon after starting the update process I got the following error message:
…bla bla bla, something went wrong, bla bla bla…this may help (yeh right) - (0x800705b4) Of course I googled it, and found some online resources with some suggestion, such as Use Windows Update Troubleshooter the debug and fix Disable any 3rd party antivirus and / or windows 10 update firewall Disable Windows defender The following posts at answers.microsoft.com - Post #1 - 0x800705b4 window defender error code, Post #2 - Windows 10 Service Registration is Missing or Corrupt None of the above worked. To be honest I was ready to format and start over, but then I had my AHA moment. Finally a working solution! Open Windows updates click on "Advanced options" Clear the option to get updates for other Microsoft products when you updates windows Restart, then check for updates The update process should complete successfully now (note, you may have to run it more than once to get all the updates) As soon as you get the message "Your device is up to date", go to the "Advanced options" again and re-select the option to get updates for other Microsoft products Check for updates again, you should now be able to download and install them I hope this solution will works for you just as it worked for be. I'd like to get your feedback in the comments section below. Thanks & Good luck!
