would be helpful for others if I laid out the steps I took to get my PS3 system out from the 8002F310 error loop. I don't think it matters much, but this is a second-generation fat PS3 with an upgraded hard drive that
How To Install Ps3 Software On New Hard Drive
I did NOT want to have to reformat.Yesterday, my PS3 automatically downloaded the 4.21 update and prompted me to install it. The update ran for a while but appeared to hang at 99% for a long time. It then rebooted and began to update the firmware on the system. It again reached 99%, then hung for a while, and finally it died, telling me to turn off and unplug the PS3, retry the installation, and then call tech support with8002F310 as the error code. Not wanting ps3 update error 8002f1f9 to have to pay for repairs I did the following and was able to restore my PS3 to operation. To do this too you will need:- A USB stick with a good copy of the firmware you were attempting to upgrade to;- A second hard drive that you don't mind erasing1. Allow the PS3 to get to the end of the the broken install, and shut it off with the switch in the back.2. Remove your hard drive and put in the spare drive and the USB stick with the updated firmware, and turn the PS3 back on.3. Allow the PS3 to format the spare disk, and install the updated firmware. Progress through the firmware install all the way to the language selection screen, then power the PS3 off again with the switch.4. Swap the original hard drive back in, but do not take out the USB stick. Turn the power back on. The PS3 will say that it can't boot because the firmware on the hard drive is corrupt, then it will ask to reinstall the firmware. Press start+select and allow it to reinstall.5. After it's reinstalled the firmware, the system should boot back up and be working again.Your mileage may vary but this worked for me and saved me from a costly repair - especially seeing how long my PS3 has been out of warranty. It also asked me to re-activate my PS3 before allowing me to play any games, but that didn't seem to cause any problems either. Report FB Tweet G+

Well, I had some major problems with my PS3 recently locking up and not playing any games or movies. After calling Customer Support, they suggested that I do a hard reset. This did seem to solveFactory Reset Ps3
my problems, so here is the procedure per Sony CS. I would consider this a last ps3 update error 8002f14e resort troubleshooting procedure. Hard Reset procedure for the PS3 (as instructed by Sony CS). Be sure to backup your settings/games saves by doing a System playstation 3 system update error > Backup on your PS3 or you may lose your game saves! Also, this is a last resort procedure prior to exchanging/returning to sony. 1. Power Off the PS3 via the power switch in back and power back on w/switch. 2. http://community.us.playstation.com/t5/Consoles-Peripherals/How-To-Resurrect-your-PS3-from-a-failed-firmware-update-Error/td-p/37484205 Hold Power Button on the Front until you hear 3 beeps. 3. Then go through the initial setup and then run a full Format via System > Format. (will take approx 3 1/1 hours). You may need to have our AV cables ready if your using HDMI (in case HDMI isn't detected after initial reset). 4. Restore your backup you made prior to doing factory/hard reset (optional, if you created a backup). Hopefully this will solve your freezing problems. Problems/symptons that this http://www.tech-recipes.com/rx/2265/ps3_how_to_factory_hard_reset/ appears to have resolved: -freezing when doing anything -no harddrive activity -freezing when trying to use onboard keyboard or bringing up keyboard -game/movie disc freezes system (Video of my problems prior to hard reset) Prior to doing the hard reset i had tried the following things: -restoring my PS3 system and a quick format (did nothing, via System menu) -full format (no hard reset though, via System menu) -restore default PS3 settings (via System menu) About Jimmy Selix Jimmy Selix is an early adopter that loves to be one of the first on the block to have the latest and greatest in technology and gadgets.
