Ps3 Update Error 8002f14e
just went through this myself and I thought it would be helpful for others if I laid out the steps I took to get my PS3 system out from the 8002F310 error loop. I don't think it matters much,
Ps3 Game Update Error
but this is a second-generation fat PS3 with an upgraded hard drive that I did NOT want to have to reformat.Yesterday, my PS3 automatically downloaded the 4.21 update and prompted me to install it. The update ran for a while but appeared to hang at 99% for a long time. It then rebooted and began to update the firmware on the system. It again reached 99%, then hung for a while, and finally it died, telling me to turn off playstation 3 system update error and unplug the PS3, retry the installation, and then call tech support with8002F310 as the error code. Not wanting to have to pay for repairs I did the following and was able to restore my PS3 to operation. To do this too you will need:- A USB stick with a good copy of the firmware you were attempting to upgrade to;- A second hard drive that you don't mind erasing1. Allow the PS3 to get to the end of the the broken install, and shut it off with the switch in the back.2. Remove your hard drive and put in the spare drive and the USB stick with the updated firmware, and turn the PS3 back on.3. Allow the PS3 to format the spare disk, and install the updated firmware. Progress through the firmware install all the way to the language selection screen, then power the PS3 off again with the switch.4. Swap the original hard drive back in, but do not take out the USB stick. Turn the power back on. The PS3 will say that it can't boot because the firmware on the hard drive is corrupt, then it will ask to reinstall the firmware. Press start+select and allow it to reinstall.5. After it's reinstalled the firmware, the system should boot back up and be working again.Your mileage may vary but this worked for me and saved me from a costly repair - especially see

2:08:58 PM from Stardock Forums pacov Join Date 02/2008 +183 Profile Posts By I recently attempted to update my PS3 to the latest version as required by sony for online blahblah. The update failed and now I receive error code 8002F147. I've gone through Sony's tongue in cheek joke they call troubleshooting (unplug the unit, wait a few minutes, then boot up again) but still get the error code. I found a guide that indicated how to boot into safe mode (essentially holding the power button through a cycle of beeps), but I can't get to the menu. I've tried pulling out the hard drive and trying to get to safe mode and doing the same and trying to get the update to initialize, but I still get the error code. And now, I'm in the process of formatting the hard drive to fat32 on my pc and will throw it back in and repeat the safe mode attempts, etc. As Sony wisely chose a 1 year warranty (for my 2 year old system), I'm on the hook for $110 bucks + shipping to send it to them and get a refurb or new replacement unit. Update - please read on for how I solved the problem. Reply #2 pacov Join Date 02/2008 +183 July 7, 2010 3:38:30 PM from Stardock.net (Stardock Games) the reformat made it so I could get to safe mode, but I'm unable to use any of the functions therein to resolve my problem. I used a free program called fat32format for the fat32 conversion of the HD... apparently formatting to fat32 in win7 is a challenge now. Anyway, I need to find a usb drive to try to load the update onto to see if I can load it there... other than that, I might have to figure out a way to image the HD itself. Good times.
