Reply Contact Hey folks, Has anyone ever heard of something like this? One of our editors started working on a project today , he did some things like digitized media and added graphics and such and when he was done he closed his project. We all went to lunch and when we got back another editor went into the suite and opened a different project and proceeded to work. About halfway into him working he recieved our friendly memory allocation error and he then restarted the application. He worked for about another 15-20 minutes then the system went crazy, he was adding a title to the sequence and the system appeared to freeze up and then played the default "alert" sound from the internal speaker coninuously for about 30-45 seconds. The adrenaline software then "failed to respond" and it was force quitted and th

A more detailed explanation for the resolution of this particular item may https://connect.microsoft.com/VisualStudio/feedback/details/536891/controls-disappear-from-a-form-although-they-are-still-in-the-designer-code have been provided in the comments section. 5 1 Sign into vote ID http://winhlp.com/node/16 536891 Comments 11 Status Resolved Workarounds 2 Type Bug Repros 6 Opened 2/26/2010 9:35:40 AM Access Restriction Public Description A project under source control (SourceSafe) contains a Windows Form with a ToolStrip and/or a StatusStrip, containing one or more ToolStripButton with a .png image associated to the Image property, where the images are in the visual studio project Resources. Most items are checked out for editing. Then, one or more of those resource images are renamed or deleted. The effect is that although still temporarily displayed in the Design view of the Form, all the buttons contained in their respective strips, even those not affected by the renamed/removed images, will be emptied when running the application. If the Design view is closed and reopened, the strips visual studio form will be empty there, too. Looking at the Designer code, you can see that the code is still there but all buttons and labels are gone from the Design view and when running the application. Upon closer review, you can see that the instructions to add the items (i.e., *.Items.AddRange(...)) are not in the code any longer. Note: I should mention that I am actually using VS 2005 SP1 but I logged this under VS 2008 for two reasons: VS 2005 is not available to report bugs about, and I read of other people using VS 2008 who were having the same issue. Submit Posted by Simon- B on 6/27/2012 at 1:43 AM This just happened to me again.Definitely caused by assigning an image resource as a button background, adding removing generally changing the resources, then the main menu toolstrip is removed and the code to add subitems is missing from the designer.cs file.
