Because it is occuring as soon as you open Notes, I'm guessing it is your address book (names.nsf). It could also be the file that defines the workspace (desktop6.ndk). Try these steps. First, find your Lotus Notes Data directory. Find the file desktop6.ndk. Change its name to desktop6.old. Then, delete cache.ndk. Now start Notes. A new desktop6.ndk will be created with no workspace icons. You will have to re-add them (your mail database and anything else you use). If that doesn't work, find the bookmark.nsf database and delete it. Start Notes. If that doesn't work, open a command window (Start > Run > cmd > OK). Change Directory (CD) to your Notes application folder, (e.g. CD C:\Lotus\Notes). Type these commands, one after the next. Let each run to completion before trying the next one. nfixup -f ncompact -c -i -d nupdall -r Start Notes. If that doesn't work, it may be your notes ID file. Request a new one from backup from your adminstrative team. Hope something here does the trick. Som
resides on file server client crash; notes crash; no nsd; nlnotes crash Technote (troubleshooting) Problem You receive reports that some Notes 8.5.1.x clients (Basic or Standard) terminate abnormally while users perform various operations. An NSD log file is not generated, and the issue often occurs in, but is not limited to, Citrix environments. Cause Due to a combination of (1) NSD running as an operating system service, and (2) the Notes data directory being stored on a remote file http://itknowledgeexchange.techtarget.com/itanswers/lotus-notes-653-error-nsd-is-running/ server (which is an unsupported configuration). Resolving the problem This issue was reported to Quality Engineering as SPR# TMDS84FRWM. Storing the Notes data directory on a file server is not supported. For more information, see technote #1086958 - "Is running Client Notes.ini and/or Notes Data directory on a File Server a supported configuration?" Starting in 8.5.2, the following message will be http://www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21431732 given if NSD runs when the Data directory is on a File Server: "WARNING (0): NSD has detected that the data directory x:\data is being hosted on a mapped network drive. NSD cannot run as a service under this configuration. Please disable the Lotus Notes Diagnostics service." NSD will continue run as simple task if it's run manually, as a crash or panic. Workaround for builds prior to 8.5.2: To resolve the issue, move the data directory to a local drive on the user's workstation (or to the Citrix server, if applicable). However, if doing that is not an immediate option, you can work around the issue by disabling NSD from running as a service. This will allow NSD to run and generate NSD logs. Go to Control Panel ---> Administrative Tools --> Services Locate the "Lotus Notes Diagnostics" operating system service Right-click on the service, and go to "Properties" Under the "Startup Type" option, change it from "Automatic" to "Manual". In the "Services Status" section, click on the "Stop" button. If the data directory is stored locally on a wor
