users to setup subscriptions sometimes SSRS failed on running these SQL Agent jobs by saying "Failure writing file Test SSRS : The report failure writing file : the report server has encountered a configuration error. server has encountered a configuration error. See the report server log files for more information." in the subscription console itself. However when you check the Reporting Services log you will notice that the error has very little to do with writing the actual report than it has invalid pbi configuration has with actually creating it. This a pretty misleading error and one can spend hours on a tangent. Checking the logfile will show the real error which is as follows: ReportingServicesService!library!d!08/27/2008-12:39:42:: e ERROR: Throwing Microsoft.ReportingServices.Diagnostics.Utilities.ServerConfigurationErrorException: The report server has encountered a configuration error. See the report server log files for more information., AuthzInitializeContextFromSid: Win32 error: 5; possible reason - service account doesn't have rights to check domain user SIDs.; Info: Microsoft.ReportingServices.Diagnostics.Utilities.ServerConfigurationErrorException: The report server has encountered a configuration error. See the report server log files for more information. This ishappensbecause SSRS needs to verify the subscription owner's access to the report prior to generating and sendingit. This error occurrs when you choose Windows File Share or Send e-Mail option. In order for SSRS to check account validity it has to read the token-groups-globa

Interestingly it still works http://www.sqlservercentral.com/Forums/Topic196812-150-1.aspx once in a while. ReportServer service is running under LocalSystem account, it doesn't execute the subscription at all when I try running it under a domain account. Even tried domain administrator account in vain.Following MS article comes up when searching with error message "AuthzInitializeContextFromSid: Win32 error: 1722;" from the log, but this article deals with the domain account setting, which in my case is not really applicable. http://support.microsoft.com/Default.aspx?kbid=842423Following are the messages from report log:==============================================================================ERROR: Throwing Microsoft.ReportingServices.Diagnostics.Utilities.ServerConfigurationErrorException: The Report Server has encountered a configuration error; more details in the log files, AuthzInitializeContextFromSid: Win32 error: 1722; Info: Microsoft.ReportingServices.Diagnostics.Utilities.ServerConfigurationErrorException: The Report Server has encountered a configuration error; more details in the log filesReportingServicesService!library!1b60!07/04/2005-14:18:05:: i INFO: Initializing EnableExecutionLogging to 'True' as specified in Server system properties.ReportingServicesService!emailextension!1b60!07/04/2005-14:18:05:: Error sending email. was migrated to a new domain. In this instance we have a report server hosted on a separate machine http://device0.blogspot.com/2011/03/sql-report-server-report-server-has.html which hasn't been migrated yet. A number of reports on the machine http://answers.flyppdevportal.com/MVC/Post/Thread/042c256f-b7d1-423d-b425-483f4d909a6e?category=sqlreportingservices have subscriptions set up. On the Monday after the migration, they all started to fail. Firstly, I had a look in the log file. For me the log files were located here: C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1\Reporting Services\LogFilesDigging through the overly verbose log information I found the win32 error following error. The job was failing due to an authorisation issue. I've highlighted the relevant part of the error. See the report server log files for more information.Running the reports manually worked, it was just the subscriptions that had the problem. In my case the report serverback end washosted on the database server thathad beenmigrated so I focused my attention on that server. When a new subscription is created, a SQLAgent job is created with GUID. Not exactly user friendly but it was enough for me to narrow down that the root of the problem lay with SQL Agent. The SQL Agent service account was in the local admins group so I assumed that should give it the carte-blanche needed to run unrestricted. Using Computer Management and looking at the Local Users and Groups I found a cluster of SQLServer r
am having the same issue as in the following post http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en/sqlreportingservices/thread/6a4ee2d8-23ce-4b68-a14e-fe7024cb58ea. I have SSRS 2008 R2 set up on a Windows Server 2008 SP2 server. Everything works fine, with the exception of subscriptions with an attachment. If the subscription is just a link, it works fine. In reviewing the log files, I get the following error info: library!WindowsService_8!e6c!04/25/2011-13:32:06:: e ERROR: Throwing Microsoft.ReportingServices.Diagnostics.Utilities.ServerConfigurationErrorException: AuthzInitializeContextFromSid: Win32 error: 5; possible reason - service account doesn't have rights to check domain user SIDs., Microsoft.ReportingServices.Diagnostics.Utilities.ServerConfigurationErrorException: The report server has encountered a configuration error. ; library!WindowsService_8!e6c!04/25/2011-13:32:06:: i INFO: Initializing EnableExecutionLogging to 'True' as specified in Server system properties. emailextension!WindowsService_8!e6c!04/25/2011-13:32:06:: e ERROR: Error sending email. When I review the KB article mentioned (link below), the top specifically says "Note This problem does not occur in Windows Server 2008" http://support.microsoft.com/kb/842423 Since I have it installed on a Windows Server 2008 box, and am experiencing this issue, is there something different that people know of for that version of Windows Server? - Glenda RepliesEileen Zhao on Mon, 02 May 2011 13:47:36 Hi Glenda, Thank you for the post. Basically, the error code 5 means "Access is Denied". You can verify this by running "net helpmsg 5" under a CMD.exe window. Meanwhile, the erro
