Cygwin Win32 Error 1062
to the D drive. So I stopped the sshd server that I had running, deleted the registry keys under `HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE' and `HKEY_CURRENT_USER? and then just deleted the C:\cygwin directory. I then reinstalled cygwin in the D drive, edited my start /var/empty must be owned by root and not group or world-writable. menu to point to them. However I have problems starting the sshd server. I have already ssh-host-config and ssh-user-config completed. However when I net start sshd I get system error 3 has occurred. The system cannot find the path specified. When I then try cygrunsrv --start sshd I get cygrunsrv: Error starting a service: StartService: Win32 error 3: The system cannot find the path specified. Does anyone have any idea what I should try. I'm trying to use rsync to backup files to a linux box. The rsync command runs fine in cygwin. I resolved an earlier error by running the cygwin terminal as Administrator. Here's what I see: Helen@Helen-PC ~ $ cron-config Cron is already installed as a service under account .\Helen. Do you want to remove or reinstall it? When I originally ran cron-config, I entered the wrong password for the Helen account. I didn't realize this password was saved in some way for starting the daemon. To fix, I ran cron-config, answered yes to Do you want to remove or reinstall it?, then answered yes to the install and start questions. Output of cron-config included: The cron daemon is now running. and I confirmed by setting my rsync command to run a few minutes in the future. The rsync happened as expected. share|improve

In my services.msc I am unable to start the service: The CYGWIN sshd service on Local Computer started and then stopped. Some services stop automatically if they are not in use by other services or programs. In the cygrunsrv error starting cygwin prompt, net start sshd produces: The CYGWIN sshd service could not be started. The service did not report an error. More help is available by typing NET HELPMSG 3534 In the cygwin prompt, cygrunsrv -S sshd produces: cygrunsrv: Error starting a service: QueryServiceStatus: Win32 error 1062: The service has not been started. My /var/log/sshd.log says the following: Unable to initialize device PRN I've searched the questions on SO related to this issue, as well as the general Internet, and I guess what makes my question unique has to do with the sshd.log. I can't find anyone else who has received this. I'm doing this to install Hadoop on my Windows. I cannot run a virtual machine on this slow computer as everything just bogs down. hadoop cygwin sshd share|improve this question asked Jul 19 '13 at 0:10 Matthew Moisen 2,21993678 I have exactly same problem in windows 7.
