Jan 25 Written by: Wed, 25 Jan 2012 11:44:58 GMT The Windows Installer Service could not be accessed. This can occur if you are running Windows in safe mode or if the Windows Installer is not correctly installed. This error is caused either because the Windows Installer Service is not running or the path to the Windows Installer Service is not correctly registered in the Windows Registry. You may also receive the following error message: error 14007: The requested lookup key was not found in any active activation context. Follow the provided solutions in order from 1 and so on to cover all bases. Solution 1 If using Windows XP: Click the Start button and click Run... and go to step 1 or if Run... is missing from the Start Menu then right click My Computer and select Manage - The Computer Management Console opens up - expand the Services and Applications icon on the left hand pane and select Services then go to Step 2. If using Windows Vista or Windows 7: Click the Windows Start button in the bottom left of the screen and Type Run into the quick search - select the Run... icon and go to Step 1 below. 1. Once the Run Prompt opens type the following into Open: Services.msc and click OK to Open the Services Console. 2. In the main pane of the Services Console highlight any Service with a single left click then Type W on your keyboard, you will then be taken to the list of Services that Start with W - find the Windows Installer Service. 3. Right click the Windows Installer Service and select Properties. Check that the Startup Type is set to Manual and that the service is running. If the Service is not running click Start. If the service starts succesfully retry the installation/uninstallation. Solution 2 If the Service Fails to start for any reason then I recommend downloading the latest Windows Installer directly from microsoft and re-installing it. Once installed you may be prompted to restart your PC - do so and attempt the installation/uninstallation again. Click this link to be taken to Microsofts Download C
