I've tried to burn "less" songs. I've tried both Memorex CD-R, 52X 700MB, 80min-CD's and Sony CD-R Supremas 700MB CD's. The error seems to pop up in the "finishing" stage of the process. Again, I never had a problem burning CD's prior to the time this last fall and again now. Could it be an update problem with iTunes? Can I go backward to the lower version I had before?Janet Helpful (0) Reply options Link to this post by custom mini, custom mini Jan 18, 2012 12:32 PM in response to meuwzic Level 2 (330 points) Jan 18, 2012 12:32 PM in response to meuwzic Just a shot in the dark, but from reading your post I get the feeling that you burn a lot of CD's ? so two questions :has the optical drive been changed or is it the original one ?would you say you have burned 200 or more cd's on this drive ?reply and I'll try some more.custom mini

In iTunes->Burn Playlist https://www.ifixit.com/Answers/View/86287/How+can+I+fix+the+Medium+Write+Error to Disc->Choose Options: Choose the option from the Preferred Speed pop-up menu, Change the CD recording speed, Specify a burn speed that is lower than the maximum speed rating for your optical drive. (try 1/2 that maximum speed ) Other possible variables: BE sure the disc is clean. Wipe the shiny surface with a soft, damp cloth, working from center to edge. Do not move, bump, or shake the computer while the disc is being burned. Use blank discs that are rated for the burn speed of your drive, or consider using a different brand of disc (excessively cheap or off-brand optical disks are known to have problems). Quit all open applications you’re not using. If your startup disk is nearly full, try to free up space on it. The amount of free space on the startup disk needs to be greater than the amount of data you’re burning. Erase unnecessary files. Back up files you don’t use often, and then remove them. Repair your startup disk with Disk Utility, in the Utilities folder in the Applications folder. If none of the above possible fixes work you could have a damaged optical disk drive.
