My Mini is older model Snow Leopard use to burned ITunes playlist to discs without problems now it quits before the burn is complete leaving the message "burn could not be complete because of a "Medium Write Error". The disc doesn't mount on the desk top. Some say this is caused by dirt or dust on the optical drive and medium write error to blow it out with canned electronic cleaning air. I'm not ready to try that nor will I ever be even if I could find it. I'm looking for an easier solution but maybe it is time for trip to the shop Model Name: Mac Mini Model Identifier: Macmini3,1 Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo Processor Speed: 2.26 GHz Serial Number (system): YM9464E19G5 Mac OS X version10.6.8[/U] Reply With Quote 03-23-2013,11:49 PM #2 Slydude View Profile View Forum Posts Member Since Nov 15, 2009 Location North Louisiana, USA Posts 10,670 Specs:2.8 GHz MacBook Pro 10.11, 8 GB mem, iPhone 6+ The canned air is readily available at many big box retailers or electronics shops. it's really not difficult to blow it out. If you're uncomfortable with that have you given thought to using an external drive. "Got Time to breathe. You got time for music." Daniel is online now I am suddenly unable to burn an audio CD from iTunes on my Resolved Question: I am suddenly unable to burn an audio CD from iTunes on my Macbook (0sX 10.4). I keep getting the error message "failed because of a medium write error." I've tried several different disks -- no luck with any. Submitted: 6 years ago. Category:Mac Share this conversation Expert: Daniel replied6 years ago. Hello, my name is Dan.How long have you had the MacBook?About how many discs have you burned? What version of 10.4 do you have? When was the last time you repaired permissions? Ask Your Own Mac Question Customer: replied6 years ago. I've had the MacBook about 4 years. A new hard drive was installed last year after the old hard drive crashed. I've burned about 20 discs (on the new hard drive). I just burned one a few days ago with no problem. Version 10.4.11. I don't know what it means to "repair permissions" so I assume I've never done that. Expert: Daniel replied6 years ago. Was it the hard drive or the optical drive that was replaced? Ask Your Own Mac Question Customer: replied6 years ago. It was the hard drive -- I lost everything! (I just tried again to burn a CD. This time it got further through the song list before ejecting the disk and giving me the "Medium Write Error" message. In previous attempts, it ejected the disk after just a few seconds.) Expert: Daniel replied6 years ago. Ok, do both these things.1 - Repair permissions, do this with Disk Utility found in Applications/Utilities.2- Do a PRAM reset, this resets all the system busses including the optical drive.Restart and hold down the 'Option', 'Command (Apple', 'R' and 'P' keys until you hear 4 startup chimes.Let go and let it continue. Now try a disc.If that fails then use a DVD head cleaner to clean the drives laser head.Try a disc. I know you are running out of discs. If none of the above work then I would say the optical drive has an issue.
