Quoted from Microsoft:Quote:Delayed Write Failure Data corruption may occur if the Large System Cache feature is enabled in Windows XP. This problem does not occur on all systems. The key ingredients that lead to data corruption may include: • System Memory greater than 512 Meg. (1 gigabyte of RAM is common) • Large NTFS disk volumes and multiple large volumes. Causes The main cause of this error is generally errors on your hard drive. These can either be bad sectors that have not yet been marked as bad by the filesystem, or your hard drive may be failing. Very rarely, this error may be caused by a bug in medium write error Steam. Solutions The first step is to verify that your hard drive is in good health and that all bad sectors have been marked as such by the drive. To do so on Windows: Click Start > (My) Computer Locate the hard drive Steam is installed on. By default, this is C: Right-click this drive and select Properties. Click the Tools tab. In the Error-checking category, click Check now... In the dialog that appears, check "Automatically fix file system errors" and "Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors." Click Start. If you are scanning the C: drive, you will be asked to schedule the disk check the next time you start Windows. Accept, restart your computer, and allow the disk check to start—do not press any keys to skip the disk check. Allow the disk check to complete. This process may take up to several hours, depending on the size of your hard drive and the number of errors. When trying to burn a CD, I'm getting an error that reads:The Attempt to burn disc failed. The burn failed because of a medium write error. I experienced this message before and took my Macbook in to the store and the the genius was stumped but when he tried one of his CD's it burned fine to he concluded that the problem was in the CD's NOT the Macbook or program HOWEVER, months later, I'm having the same issue using the NEW CD's. Does anyone have any information about this? MacBook, Mac OS X (10.5.8) Posted on Jan 17, 2012 2:26 PM I have this question too Close Q: The Attempt to burn disc failed. I've tried to burn "less" songs. I've tried both Memorex CD-R, 52X 700MB, 80min-CD's and Sony CD-R Supremas 700MB CD's. The error seems to pop up in the "finishing" stage of the process. Again, I never had a problem burning CD's prior to the time this last fall and again now. Could it be an update problem with iTunes? Can I go backward to the lower version I had before?Janet Helpful (0) Reply options Link to this post by custom mini, custom mini Jan 18, 2012 12:32 PM in response to meuwzic Level 2 (330 points) Jan 18, 2012 12:32 PM in response to meuwzic Just a shot in the dark, but from reading your post I get the feeling that you burn a lot of CD's ? so two questions :has the optical drive been changed or is it the original one ?would you say you have burned 200 or more cd's on this drive ?reply and I'll try some more.custom mini.
