After changing my computer which also has a different CD/DVD ROM drive, I couldn't burn CDs anymore. The steps I do are the same as I used to when I succeeded into burning discs, but now I keep getting errors and it's weird. It's like it begins burning for 5 seconds as I can hear the sound it makes, it goes to from 14 to 20% in progress and all of a sudden it ejects the disk and tells me burning process failed. The CDs are brand new. Here is my log: (Ignore the Windows XP 6.1, I'm running Windows 7) ============================================================= Windows XP 6.1 AMD64 Wow64Process WinAspi: - NT-SPTI used Nero Version: 7.11.10.0 Internal Version: 7, 11, 10, 0 (Nero Express) Recorder: Version: P1.6 - HA 1 TA 3 - 7.11.10.0 Adapter driver: HA 1 Drive buffer : 2048kB Bus Type : default CD-ROM: Version: 1.05 - HA 1 TA 1 - 7.11.10.0 Adapter driver: HA 1 === Scsi-Device-Map === === CDRom-Device-Map === DTSOFT BDROM G: CdRom1 PHILIPS DVDR1660P1 E: CdRom3 ======================= AutoRun : 1 Excluded dr

It gives you a chance to save or print out an log file. Save that log file on your hard http://forum.nero.com/nero_eng/topics/nero_7_error_could_not_perform_fixation disk. You will need it. Problem: You now have a bad burn - a coaster - in your hand and you really don't know what went wrong. Even if you have burned several other discs with success or this is your first burning - you both have entered the same club with the name - "what to do?". Solution: Something is not working out right. It can depend on the following issues: http://forum.digital-digest.com/f57/faq-burning-nero-failed-some-clues-why-45942.html You don't have DMA enabled Your burner don't support your media You are burning at to high rate Some settings in Nero are wrong You are using the wrong type of disc Nero has a bug So take your log file and compare it with the following issues to what could have gone wrong with your burning. Just remember that the examples may very well be different than your own setup in your log file. The basic issues should be the same. And please - if you are new to burning - use a -RW or a +RW disc. It will be cheaper for your. When you know that your setup is done and you have burned your first disc without problems - then you can start using -R or +R discs First part of the log file from Nero Quote: Windows XP 5.1 IA32 WinAspi: File 'Wnaspi32.dll': Ver=4.71 (0002), size=45056 bytes, created 2002-07-17 10:03:20 ahead WinASPI: File 'C:\Program Files\Ahead\Nero\Wnaspi32.dll': Ver=2.0.1.74, size=164112 bytes, created 2004-10-26 17:35:34 Nero API version: 6.6.0.6 Using interface version: 6.3.1.4 Installed in: C:\Program Files\Ahead\Nero\ Application: ahead\Nero - Burning Rom Recorder: <_NEC DVD_RW ND-1300A> Version: 1.0B - HA 1 TA 0 - 6.6.0.6 Adapter driver:

Their could be several possible reasons and solutions for the above error, basically what is happening is for some reason the CD/DVD burning software is unable to determine the Optimum Power Calibration rate (a small pre-burn test to determine optimal laser power for writing), resulting a disk burn failure. There is no easy way to pinpoint the exact reason, so try all the possible fixes from top to bottom (easy to hard) and see what works: Try using different brands of quality blank media, most common reason for such error's is cheap blank media. Try burning at lower speeds (Highly effective). Disable IMAPI Service (Work's in most cases): Launch Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Services . Browse for "IMAPI CD-Burning COM Service", Right-click on it and select properties. Cha
Error" and just stops... I have no idea why, anyone know why, or of a solution? ShEDeViL Graduate Posts: 216 3+ Months Ago Not sure if this will help or not, but have you tried opening the case and making sure the power cable hasn't come lose from the cd burner at all? Or even switcing the power connector to a different one? Also have you tried cleaning the lens? Or different media? Maybe a trying a different program to burn? Or maybe changing the speed that you are burning at? lostinbeta Guru Posts: 1402Loc: Philadelphia, PA 3+ Months Ago When I used Nero I used to get this error every now and then. I found that if I removed the song where the error pops up during burning from the burn playlist, the cd would burn fine. My guess is there was an encoding problem in the song that could not allow it to properly be burned. Maybe that is it for you. ShEDeViL Graduate Posts: 216 3+ Months Ago The only problem with that is that at 5% chances are that it hasn't started burning anything yet, it is probably still doing the "pre-burn" stuff. lostinbeta Guru Posts: 1402Loc: Philadelphia, PA 3+ Months Ago I believe when I used Nero it didn't count the pre-burn stuff in the %, it used to have a window at the top that displays current status messages and it would say all that was complete, and then the burning would start. After it reached 100%, it would display the closing out status and complete the burning process. Nucleo SausagePorkPie Posts: 2297Loc: UK - England 3+ Months Ago well... it was burning on 1 cd, kept comming up with the error, it never actually burned on the cd... welll i didn't think so. I kept putting the same one back in when it asked for a blank medium. It would accept the one that errored.. I put a totally different CD in and it was fine.. burned perfectly. now tell me if i am wrong but i thought nero would chuck the CD back out if it had anything on it? thanks for the help ShEDeViL Graduate Posts: 216 3+ Months Ago Correct, it would spit the cd back out if there was something on it. You probably just had a bad cd is all. Nucleo SausagePorkPie Posts: 2297Loc: UK - England 3+ Months Ago probably... thanks all cenapcevli Born Posts: 2Loc: TURKEY 3+ Months Ago HERE IS MY SOLUTION TO "POWER CALIBRATION ERROR" Shortly this error is the result of a mismatch of the actual cd speed to the intended writing speed. For "speed calibration error" the only thing you need to do is to CALIBRATE the actual power (speed) of the CDROM to the intended writing speed. 1. Install Nero Burning Rom (preferably latest version) 2. Start NeroSmartStart 3. fr
