Sendto Bad File Descriptor
] Hi, Help, please. When I try to start 'ntpd' on a netbsd system, I get 'sendto(32.33.33.1): Bad file descriptor' error message and the ntpd daemon does not start. A search on the internet http://www.cyberciti.biz/faq/bad-file-descriptor-ntpd-error/ tells that this kind of error message is seen if there is an existing ntpd daemon is running and the use is starting another daemon. But I did not have any daemon running prior to my execution of the ntpd command. I have the http://lists.ntp.org/pipermail/questions/2011-July/029961.html following entry in my /etc/ntp.conf server 32.33.33.1 restrict 127.0.0.1 The command I used is: # ./ntpd -c /etc/ntp.conf # Jul 9 07:18:28 Ericsson ntpd[981]: sendto(32.33.33.1): Bad file descriptor Here is the debug log of the 'ntpd' I tried to run. I am trying to use NTPD to keep the time correct on all of the virtual machines. On my physical server, I have installed ntpd and this is it's config file:# ntpd.conftinker panic 0restrict 127.0.0.1restrict default kod nomodify notrapserver 0.vmware.pool.ntp.orgserver 1.vmware.pool.ntp.orgserver 2.vmware.pool.ntp.orgserver 3.vmware.pool.ntp.orgrestrict 192.168.15.0 mask 255.255.255.0 nomodify notrapdriftfile /var/lib/ntp/driftlogfile /var/log/ntp.logOn one of my virtual machines (it's the same on all of them), this is the config file:# ntpd.conftinker panic 0restrict 127.0.0.1# restrict default notrust nomodify nopeerserver 192.168.15.1driftfile /var/lib/ntp/driftlogfile /var/log/ntp.logSo I've got all of the virtual machines getting the time from the physical host.I'm having troubles with at least one of my virtual machines having it's time jump a bit.
