Recently, when a PDF file stopped working, and I hard to do a hard reboot, it never came back. The error along with the blue screen of death is in the subject line. I do have files/folders on the machine that I'd prefer not to lose, but I backed up a few months ago, so if I lose, and http://www.geekstogo.com/forum/topic/337366-stop-c0000221-bad-image-checksum/ keep the machine that would be option 2. I am not a computer wiz, but am willing to experiment. I do not have the XP disc, nor did I back up when I initially purchased the device. What is the approach without the disc? Does it make sense to try and find another one to reload the software? Thanks all! Yes, that is correct. I was working on the Desktop an old Dell Dimension 300, and had a PDF file open. That file seized up, and I don't even think control/alt/delete worked so I had to turn the power off. Since then, I have not been able to get the computer to log me back in. In other words, i do get the XP Screen, and then it goes black, and then in about 5-8 minutes I

Turning it on takes me to a blue screen that says the following: STOP: C0000221 {Bad Image Checksum} The image NETAPI32.dll is possibly corrupt. The header checksum does not match the computed checksum. After turning it on I hit F8 to select how to boot, tried to boot in safe mode and no luck. Also tried SAFE MODE WITH COMMAND PROMPT, LAST KNOWN GOOD CONFIGURATION and so on. Could not find an option to boot from XP disc. I can't and is there way to bypass the "blue screen of death".
