Report • #2 Derek March 15, 2015 at 08:30:22 ✔ Best AnswerYou will need to run several specialised programs to properly clean the system. Just to get the ball rolling:MalwareBytes:http://filehippo.com/download_malwa...(green Download button top right - not anything else on the page)Run the program but before doing the scan go to "Settings > Detection and Protection" and put a checkmark in "Scan for rootkits".ADWCleaner:http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/dow...(blue Download button near top - not anything else on the page).Download and "Save" the file somewhere. Go to the saved file then double click it to run the Scan. You then have options to remove whatever it shows under each heading in the table that appears below, although it is usually safe to run "Cleaning".Junkware Removal Tool (JRT)http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/dow...(blue Download button near top - not anything else on the page).Download and "Save" the file somewhere. Go to the saved file then double click it to run JRT. It might appear to have stopped at times but sit tight until it has finished. Please copy/paste the logs on here because even if the symptoms are cured you are almost certain to still have things lurking around that require further cleaning.Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanksmessage edited by Derek Report • #3 Phuketoptions March

Try installing the program again using the original installation media or contact you system administrator or the software vendor for support. this has been happening for a couple of days now, i started when norton sercurity detected a trojan horse. it seemed to delete it (im not 100% sure) but every since then i have been getting this message. it even appears before the log in screen on vista, and as i turn off my computer. i read a little bit on the internet and thought that norton could have damaged some of the files on my computer. i downloaded CCleaner to clean the registry integrity, which includes missing dll files, but nothing has changed. my computer came preinstalled with vista, so i dont have a disc to insert and try and restore any damaged files(if thats what happened). i would greatly appreciate any help as to what is causing this and how to solve it. arch1tect, Feb 28, 2009 #1 joeten Joined: Jan 15, 2009 Messages: 3,852 hi i think you would be wise to go to the malware forum first and make sure your comp is clean http://forums.techguy.org/malware-removal-hijackthis-logs/622404-please-read-here-first-before.html then you can come back if you still have a problem also this will help with your recovery problem http://www.pcworld.com/downloads/file/fid,71039/description.html joeten, Feb 28, 2009 #2 arch1tect Thread Starter Joined: Feb 28, 2009 Messages: 4 iv downloaded hijackthis and have run a scan and saved the log. shall i post it in this thread for you to see? arch1tect, Feb 28, 2009 #3 arch1tect Thread Starter Joined: Feb 28, 2009 Messages: 4 if anyone is having the same problems as me visit this thread http://www.cybertechhelp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=194911 arch1tect, Mar 17, 2009 #4 This thread has been Locked and is not open to further replies.
