Recently, when a PDF file stopped working, and I hard to do a hard reboot, it never came back. The error along with the blue screen of death is in the subject line. I do have files/folders on the machine that I'd prefer not to lose, but I backed up a few months ago, so if I lose, and http://www.geekstogo.com/forum/topic/337366-stop-c0000221-bad-image-checksum/ keep the machine that would be option 2. I am not a computer wiz, but am willing to experiment. I do not have the XP disc, nor did I back up when I initially purchased the device. What is the approach without the disc? Does it make sense to try and find another one to reload the software? Thanks all! Now what? 0 Advertisements #2 phillpower2 Posted 23 February 2014 - 10:36 AM phillpower2 Tech Staff Technician 19,534 posts skhill62Recently, when a PDF file stopped working, and I hard to do a hard reboot, it never came back. What never came back, do you mean that the computer will not boot up since the above happened. Please provide information about your computer, this includes is it a notebook or desktop, is it a custom build or brand name such as Dell or HP, if it is a brand name provide the model name or series number (not serial) providing these details will enable us to better assist you. 0 #3 skhill62 Posted 23 February 2014 - 01:36 PM skhill62 Member Topic Starter Member 33 posts Wow, thanks for the quick response. Yes, that is correct. I was working on the Desktop an old Dell Dimension 300, and had a PDF file open. That file seized up, and I don't even think control/alt/delete worked so I had to turn the power off. Since then, I have not been able to get the computer to log me back in. In other words, i do get the XP Screen, and then it goes black, and then in about 5-8

Turning it on takes me to a blue screen that says the following: STOP: C0000221 {Bad Image Checksum} The image NETAPI32.dll is possibly corrupt. The header checksum does not match the computed checksum. After turning it on I hit F8 to select how to boot, tried to boot in safe mode and no luck. Also tried SAFE MODE WITH COMMAND PROMPT, LAST KNOWN GOOD CONFIGURATION and so on. Could not find an option to boot from XP disc. I can't and is there way to bypass the "blue screen of death". I have my XP disc, would it contain netapi32.dll? If not could I copy it from another pc? System Info:Acer Aspire 3680Window XP SP2Processor: Intel Celeron

Thread Status: Not open for further replies. Advertisement willspiel Thread Starter Joined: Apr 13, 2005 Messages: 8 Hello, Yesterday was using my computer just fine. Came home after going out, and it wouldn't come back up (have monitor set to 'idle' when not in use). So, rebooted the machine. The XP loading screen comes up and the progress bulllet goes back and forth , then a blue screen. At first it was just rebooting but I finally turned off automatic reboot. The blue screen says: STOP: c0000221 {Bad Image Checksum} The image olecli32.dll is possibly corrupt. The header checksum does not match the computed checksum. I've tried using my XP reinstallation disk, but it loads VERY slowly and then gives error messages like : missing usbuhci.sys error code 12800, or missing setupreg.hiv w/ same error codes! I can't even get windows to start in safe mode. Are there any suggestions? I am using XP Pro w/ SP2 installed. I've been googling this problem and have seen lots of mention of viruses. Definetely hope thats not the case. Thanks for the assistance.
